I saw a top non XX 800 person run low 30's for a 10k, i.e. easily a much faster pace overall.
Koko? Muir? Hassan?
There really aren't many!

Jim Gray could run sub 30 for a 10k, and ran 1:42 for 800 meters.
In fact, probably most really good high school 800 runners could break 16 minutes for 5k.
By racing the 5000m she is giving the IAAF a case study to add that distance to the list of restricted events. My understand is the reason they had to limit the range from 400-1500 is because those are the only event where they have definitive proof that increased natural testosterone levels is performance enhancing. The more she races us the more she proves her advantage at multiple distances.
I might need to retract my original post bashing Dom Scott, as I didn't realize this was at altitude. Not that you'd know from the Athletics South Africa website, which has Semenya's time as 16:25 and not 16:05.
If Scott isn't in great shape than ~15:40s isn't too bad. I don't imagine she's trying to peak for this race in April anyway.
right...it wouldn't possibly help in the sprints now would it?? or the throws? Interesting that they are not even pursuing additional research on other events, wonder why??

Don Scott. Yeah I have seen her training locally and she looked in super shape. SHoulda pushed it.
And she is one cute gal.
When I saw the title I thought it was saying Caster Semenya crushes Dominatrix Scott and then I thought is this like a weird wrestling event or what.

Why the heck would Dom Scott, who has run 15:04 for 5000m, let a race against the best 800m runner in the world come down to the final 400m?
race was won in 16:05 (Scott ran 16:13 and led at the bell) which means they were probably running 80 second laps or slower for most of the race. It also means that Semenya put 8 seconds on Scott in the last 400m.
Run a marathon slow enough and Usain Bolt will win it.
Ummmm. No, he wouldn’t
False. Usain bolt would never finish a marathon

Bolt would be a DNF. Would drop out at 1/4 mile. You must not follow the sport.
Hassan has run 1:56 800m and 65 something half marathon. She will probably go sub 30 in the 10k this year and is xy for all we know (and as she actually has larger breasts than most other female distance runners she clearly does look like a hormonally mostly normal woman). Others like Obiri, Muir, Houlihan, Kipyegon, Dibaba, Koko are not quite as fast in the 800m and none of them would be close to Semenya in 400/800m. But most of them could probably run a 52-53 sec. 400m (can't be much slower to run sub 2 800m) and ca. 30-31 min. 10k without much special preparation. These runners are in a different class from Dominique Scott, though.

She could argue she has debunked their experts by showing dominance at an event where even they concede, testosterone gives no appreciable advantage.

Muscular Coolio is too heavy to truly dominate at 5k like she did at 800m. She'll never beat Ayana, Hassan, etc. at 5k.

She in no way has shown "dominance" at the 5000 like she has at the 800.

Yeah because only tall people run well in distance events. Bekele is like 6'2".

Semenya is the goat with that range.
It’s a man, it’s a woman, it’s a goat.
Make up your mind already!
Do they have any actual test data that says Testosterone has no effect in the event or is there just a lack of data at this time? I find it hard to believe that testosterone wouldn't help in any event (especially in the sprints and throws). I'd love to know what Schippers T levels are!

Okay, 15:36 for 5,000m on the track would be a relatively good male high school performance. But how many boys hitting that mark also could run 49.6 and 1:54.2?
Every 1;54.2 guy I know could run 15:36.
I know sub 49 guys that haven't run a 5k, but assuming I could make them run 35 miles a week I could get them under 15:36.

I get your point but this is hyperbole. Boatloads of 1:54 guys in this world who could not break 18:00 because they are speed-based guys.
Men are faster than women in every event. All male athletes have massively more testosterone than every female athlete. Testosterone plays a role in every event.
