Running my first half in 2 weeks. I haven't run in the past 6 months and prior to that only ran during OrangeTheory workouts. I've researched and read tons of posts but haven't found anything recent. My biggest goal is to finish, but realistically have a goal time of 2:30 (knowing I want better). I've trained for 3 weeks so far and last week did 10.5 mi in 1:50 with an average 10:30 pace. I'm really worried about injury within the next 2 weeks if I push too hard. Is it worth pushing a 12 mile run within the next few days or should I cut back on my long run? The 10.5 mi run felt great! (only felt winded twice, slowed my breathing, and was back on track). But my knees are suffering and I felt like I was getting some shin splints during sprints at CrossFit today. Looking for opinions on whether I should keep pushing distance or cut back to avoid injury prior. I'm averaging 16-20 miles/week plus 2 CrossFit workouts for current training if that helps.....Any advice is appreciated since I'm new to the game....this is not just my first half, but first race ever!
