Joe Falcon benched at least 250 when he was running 13:20.
I waited until this one to post. I actually read about a high school kid who was nearly that
fast and the paper claimed he benched 275. But like pushups, pullups, situps, and probably many
other exercises there are lots of ways to cheat. Many people do not seem to even realize they are doing it.
For instance I knew a guy, about 5-9 and 135, who would put like 650 on the leg press and then scoot his
but up the back of it and push the weight about 2 inches. Then he would jump off and claim he did 10 pounds
more than his personal record. I will not tell you any more about that guy, but he was zany in a lot of
other areas too. (Mental Health, accident prone, etc., sort of a real life Barney Fife except w/o a girlfriend.
Please do not bring up the old "Universal Machines."
Truth is not many people can even bench press their own weight. So, NO there are not very many people
who can bench press 200. 315 is a noteworthy achievement if you did it without your feet moving and your
entire back and shoulder blades on the bench. (Plus no spotter and from off your chest, no halfsies allowed.)
