I do wonder what the trade off is, eventually. I guess a lot depends on how they've trained for all cumulative years of HS/College, post College.
If they've just been in the weight room with little to no aerobic work, that's not really a fair assessment. I'd be intrigued to see what a college hoops player could run in a 5k. A lot of aerobic work, and quite explosive too. I remember a shooting guard in college put up 265, if teammates confirmed it, and that boy could RUN. He was bigger too, 6'3 190-200 lbs.
Could he have broken 20 minutes? Possibly. A 2 mile time trial for some athletes would be more interesting.
