Can you aqua jog?
Possibly keep you somewhat aerobically fit while recovering. Maybe an Alter G?

she should have jumped off the treadmill into the shrinks lounger vs. the chiro table. what a nutball.

Her form is to blame and probably glute and transverse abdominal activation issues. If her chiro is one of the best, they should be addressing all of this.
Agreed. I've marveled at how far she's been able to make it with such terrible form. Hopefully they will get to the root(s) of the issue(s).
As for chiros... they can make or break you, literally.

Perhaps instead of spending all her time on Instagram promoting body image, she should have been working to lose 5-10lbs.
Clearly, her body can't handle the type of mileage she is throwing at it and I am sure the extra weight sure isn't helping. There's a reason why the majority of female runners look a certain way... the body just can't sustain those 100 mile weeks when you're carrying extra weight around
Lemme get this straight: a female runner is either injured because (a) she has an eating disorder and is too skinny or (b) is too heavy.
Sigh.
Ya. That’s exactly how it is. Being either too light or too heavy while training extremely hard can cause injury. Duh. Just like everything in training you need a solid balance.
How about she runs a lot and got injured? Ask Ritz. It happens.
I feel for her. She obviously feels a strong connection to the sport, but has been riddled with injuries throughout her career. She has also struggled with disordered eating. She finally had a big breakthrough as a runner after being away from the sport, and felt like she had maybe figured out the injury issues (figuring, reasonably, that her restrictive diet substantially contributed to those past injuries).
But back came the injuries despite being at what is her more natural and likely an all-around more healthy weight. She has to feel a little anxious about her likelihood of putting together a good stretch of healthy running.
As to the question as to her duty to post about her injury, I will say this: when your social media persona is a significant part of your career and when you put the successes out there, it creates an impression that you are sharing your story with your followers. While she had no duty to share this part of her story, I do think it is reasonable for people to want to hear about it.
And you have to give her some credit for sharing it. Not all other pros with big social media presences would do that. Also, it had to be a little hard for her specifically to share her injury story because of the fact that she previously attributed some of the stress fractures that she suffered to her overly-restrictive diet. Now she has a more sustaining diet and is suffering from stress reactions. It would have been easy to just avoid the details of the injuries so as to avoid criticisms.
I understand some of the criticisms that she gets; but I also think her message (whether there is some degree of branding associated with it or not) is an important one and that she is an asset to the running community and to girls and young women in sport generally as a result of bringing body image and disordered eating in athletes out of the shadows and into the foreground.
I hope she recovers and recovers her prior form. To those who dislike her, remember that this isn't a zero sum game. Her success as an athlete doesn't detract from your success.

She has a kangaroo pouch. Ridiculous weight to have as an elite runner, that weight does nothing to help you stay injury free.
Huh? Who are you watching? She is Hot! Have you seen her in her running outfits? That girl is smoking hot! No, she's not anorexic, like so many other female distance runners. She actually has a nice body, and a great booty.
Almost everyone who runs for BH gets injured or burned-out... Its good that he's only ruined one this time ;-)

TO BE CLOSER TO JOHN BALL.
John is considered the master when it comes to injuries. He is one of the finest chirps in the country.
The irony of getting hurt while seeing John is precious. Can you say KARMA?
Isn’t Chiro quackery though? Why do elites see these people?
Placebo effect, mabye? I don't go to chiropractors but I do love me some massage therapists!
The injuries are consistent when you use Nike 4% shoes for training....then switching to shoe without the same level of support. The Nike 4% limits loads on foot and lower leg...detrains muscle, tendon, and bone....basically weakens them.
Athletes should not train too much in Nike 4% shoes...long term injury is high...only RACE in them.

I completely agree with this. Knowing the way people react, it's not an easy thing to do. But kudos to her for being upfront, unlike Emily Infeld who hid a surgery to the point she was photshopping her crutches out of pictures.
Several good points, and nicely put.

^^this^^
Accurate if she logged significant mileage in the 4% or not, the point is still valid...
To the others (not you run_FREE)
As far as "she is injured because of her weight" ... then why do the "skinny" elites get the same or similar injuries with the same frequency? No significant difference... a little objectivity here can go a long way.
It's less her weight and more her coaching.
Tell us more Mr. Physiologist.
Back up your ridiculous claim or STFU.
Thanks for asking me a question. Yes I can aqua jog.

If you don't know what a Lisfranc injury is, read and weep.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisfranc_injuryI hope she's just blowing smoke, otherwise she's in for a long recovery.
Depends on the reason for the Lisfranc injury. When it occurs due to sudden trauma (as per the Wikipedia article, fall from a height or motor vehicle accident), then yes it can be a terrible mess if there is significant displacement. But Allie mentions a Lisfranc sprain, which I am familiar with as I was diagnosed with one last year as well following a "roll" of my foot on and around a rock or branch (can't quite remember what it was but I remember the roll). The sprain indicates ligaments were stretched and depending on how much, recovery will vary but in general it takes a bit of time until you feel nothing. At times it can be quite the sharp pain.
For me it was from mid-January 2017 until early-mid March that year, almost 2 months, but I was able to run a little bit at times (it would probably have been best not to, and rehab slowly). The good news is that two years after, I haven't had any recurrence and haven't felt anything there in ages.
I do not know Allie personally but Allie if you're reading you are one hell of a tough runner, and yes injuries suck, but it will get better and you'll be back. Just need to be patient and don't drive yourself nuts with chicken and eggs type of analyses, sometimes injuries aren't due to X, Y, Z. Sometimes it's bad luck. Here it could have been the back throwing your form off or the other way around, no one knows. Just rehab everything slowly, get back into it slowly, get massages, stay flexible etc. You're a pro and know better than us anyway, and have access to great care so good luck!
Keep loving the sport.

Is Alexi Pappas training with Hudson now? I thought she joined them a while ago as like a temporary thing.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
