Forgot to mention that worst experiences I've had were when riding through native American areas. Roughly 5-10x the aggressive dog rate.
Rez dogs don’t belong to anyone. They are feral. Everyone knows to avoid them, except you apparently.
Talked to guy who volunteered picking up ferel rez dogs, esp pregnant ones. He was livid with anger talking about the abuse he saw on the rez. Not just against dogs of course, people too, but hey, colonialism certainly didn't help!
We adopted a male pup that was born in a shelter to a mom rescued from rez (litter of 11, two fathers), An absolutely lovely and charming dog, makes me laugh more than any other human! Now four years old he's still afraid of most every dog he meets, except for the dogs he met as a pup, possibly the terror the mom felt affected the pups personality during fetal growth stage.
