Bingo-gotta deal with some adversity --due to issues such as this /threatened lawsuits, schools will get softer--kids won't be as well-prepared for the real world-I found that a little bit of tough love in the past, I really appreciated down the road...

But I thought he had 20 Division 1 scholarship offers, why would in state tuition matter?

Scholarship offers for guys are books so instate tuition is a huge benefit.

Good point, plus the article says that they fell in love with the city. However, not surprising that people here would leap to the conclusion that this one fact is enough to condemn them as bad parents raising a "pansy".

The coach obviously hates people from New York, and that's why he beat up the kid in his office.

I saw this thread and also thought about kids being soft these days. Then I read the article linked in the original post.

The runner seems credible. Also the article mentioned the assistant coach who assaulted a female team member a few years back and is now in prison. This happened. It's a fact.

There may be individuals in the Arizona T&F program, athletes and coaches, that should be removed. I don't know one way or the another, but it warrants investigation.

Lol guilty as charged. The previous generation always says "kids are soft these days".

When I grew up parents mostly ignored their kids and let them succeed and fail on their own. Kids today are pushed to succeed by their parents, and many high achieving kids coming out of HS aren't experienced with failure.

The Arizona runner should realize that this "failure" does not have to ruin his life. Have his say in court and move on. He should find a new school and transfer.

I'm 38. I don't have a soft 20 year old. However, when my 8 and 4 year olds are in college, they won't be soft like these recent cases of kids.

Rational thinking. A spoiled brat kid went to college where he wasn't the center of attention, and couldn't handle it. Instead of self reflecting, trying harder, and improving, he blames everyone other than himself and quits. This happens all the time.

Nobody is going to believe a Head Coach threw a kid to the ground.

Ridiculous, you don’t qualify for instate tuition until your parents have residency there for at least a year, often more, depending on the school. Plus the cost of relocating would more than offset a few years of tuition savings...there is no way it’s a cost savings. No, call it what it is: it’s just weird when parents follow their kids off to college.
