Coyotes are diurnal actually. Your dad probably just sees them because he is out jacklighting deer.

Why do you want to murder coyotes? Have they been killing pets in your neighborhood?
Cattle, and Sheep Ranchers hire Coyote hunters to eliminate these predators from killing their herds and flocks. otherwise they breed out of control and impact the calfs and lamb populations in a big way.

The opposite is true.
I like hunting, especially at night. Recently I bought new good AGM Wolverine 4 NL2 night vision rifle scope - https://www.agmglobalvision.com/night-vision and it is so cool! it is the most technologically advanced line of night rifle scopes on the market bar none. Characteristics and possibilities are impressive, just look the review!

As a fellow hunter, so do I.
The science is overwhelming that removing predators isn't beneficial. It sounds like you're in an area where the excessive levels of hunting pressure are the actual issue.
I love the outdoors and have great respect for all living creatures. But Two animals that are invasive and for which I would support open hunting season are the coyotes and the breed of Canada geese that don't migrate. Numbers of Coyotes have increased partly due to the expanded human residences. They are a danger to pets. Resident Canada geese have significantly polluted water ways and chased out other water fowl.
Then what's motivation for killing coyotes? Scientifically you can be out there 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year trying to kill these animals and you will not make a dent in their population. So what's your true motivation? Bullshit on your decisions being based on science, biology, and logic. They are based on you just wanting to shoot some animals.

Coyotes have expanded because they are incredibly adaptable and thrive in areas where humans are and because we killed most of the wolves, who helped keep their populations at bay.

if I see a coyote chewing on a $1000 calf I'm going to have a real hard time letting him walk away.
Coyotes > cows.
Save the forests!
Get rid of the ranchers and cows!
