Have you ever considered that nobody is responding because none of us know what happened to Daniel Maton? Also who cares, let the kid live he probably knew what he was doing which doesn’t require updating to everyone.
Next time someone doesn’t respond to you after you bump your post TWICE take a hint
Hey, genius breath, somebody who reads this knows.
Hey, genius breath, just because my initial post was bumped twice doesn't mean the same person bumped it twice, or now three times. The same person didn't bump it twice, or now three times - or so I claim, but, if you're the all-knowing, then you must know!
Hey, genius breath, a message board is for asking questions, some of which on LetsRun are not invasive or reeking of negativity, and some of which, about star high school athletes, don't get answered on the same forum, even after repeated bumping.
So YOU, as one tiny speck on the planet, claim you don't care! Too bad for you, if that's the case -- but I bet you're curious, too. Thank you for being a spokesperson for the masses, what with your "WE don't care" arrogance - like the mouse that roared! Lots of people care, even if nobody has responded/will respond. Daniel did really, really well in his three indoor races this winter - up to his last posted race result a month or so ago. There was a 4:09.97 mile at the UW Invitational in late January, a 1:51.88 800 a couple of weeks earlier, and a 4:10. 00 win at the UW High School Invitation in mid-February.
Those who join MileSplit can watch video of his great efforts, and for free anyone can watch a few races on youtube. Subscribers to MileSplit and T&F News can read news items that give him the coverage he deserves - such coverage is mostly responsible journalism, and it is what happens to all young runners who show great potential. Google on his name, if you haven't already, and you'll be rewarded with opportunities to learn more. Unlike you, supposedly, more than a handful of people follow up-and-coming young runners, especially a runner like him, from a family with success in its blood.
And a few followers of the sport like to learn new details, even if they don't ask on LetsRun.
Take a look at the LetsRun home page. Look at all the news that "doesn't require updating to everyone". Like 100% of what's on LetsRun's home page. Regarding high school talent, take a look at pre-NXN coverage. Pre-Foot Locker coverage. Pre-UW Invitation coverage. Pre-NBNI coverage. Even Pre-fontaine Classic coverage, for the handful of high schoolers who have participated in that storied meet.
Now, sooner or later, probably through MileSplit, we actually might learn why Daniel wasn't at NBNI, even though his name was in the entries and the pre-race analysis. He may even answer that question the next time he is videotaped on MileSplit following a race. It may simply be that it was too costly to travel all the way from his home in Oregon to the Big Apple. Very understandable - airfare, hotels, and food aren't cheap. It may be that, uninjured, he wisely backed off so as not to potentially overextend himself. He has a great future, I would think, and I hope he has great confidence and excellent advice.
And my itty bitty questions, as the OP, pale in comparison with what was presented in the 1300-plus words that Daniel Maton's mother posted last June on MileSplit, complete with photos of her kids, including Daniel. But, then, WHO CARES, because you don't care! I really do think, stopwedontcare, that you should call her out and tell her that nobody cares!
