If you consider race car driving or bobsledding athletic persuits, then you’re wrong.

I've never found that to be true. It's dried. Once, a long time ago, I took 2 spoonfuls of dried weed, and got ripped off my ass. With the stuff my housemate has given me, if I take over a certain amount, I get stoned. Under, just mellow.
But that time I took two spoonfuls, lol, I was so ripped, passed out, slept like a log for 9 hours, woke up felt fantastic and went for a run. No hangover or ill effects.
THCA naturally decarboxylates into THC as the plant matter dries, but you’ll get much better yield if you heat the flower first. Instead of two spoonfuls, you could take a pinch. Just sayin.

No. That's not even close to real life. But thanks for playing.

There is no downside to taking edibles on athletic performance is there?
From the research I've done I haven't been able to find any evidence that they have negative long or short term effects on aerobic performance.
Please post if you know of ANY downside!

Doesn't anybody just smoke flower any more?
He'll I'm just glad it no longer has seeds and stems mixed in.
Haha...all I want is flower...all this new age stuff is interesting but sooo damn pricey..flower is efficient and there's no worry of eating one more bite and falling into oblivion
Oh, it's a marijuana thing. Had to read a bunch of posts to figure it out.
I clicked on the thread thinking "isn't everything we consume edible?"
Funny:)
If seriously, if you’re really trying to lose weight brownies and cookies are things to avoid. Cannabis needs some sort of fat to be able to cook with it. I use 100% whole fat butter. That makes a 2” x 2” brownie about 250 calories. So you'll have 250 empty calories. More here

Just about any sport that requires reaction time will suffer.
https://www.marijuanadoctors.com/side-effects/slower-reaction-time/
This has been known for decades.
The information on that site indicates that reaction times only slow while one is under the effects.
So, don't practice or compete while the edibles are active would seem to be the takeaway.
IMO, it depends what you want to get out of athletics and life.
I think smoking weed is great, I’ve tried vaping and it’s pretty good too but for me smoking is the best. And, for that reason I do it about twice a year these days. I find that I can have a big weekend of smoking and drinking and it’ll put my running back by a week or two but then I’ll be back to where I was before.
The other downside with weed is that it makes me less productive and I’m not convinced you’ll get the most out of your relationships in life if you’re getting high every night. (I’m aware that most people don’t get high every night).
The main issue is you don't know how stoned you are until later:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/warrant-denver-man-ate-pot-candy-before-killing-wife/
And there are all the other side effects of weed: weight gain, suicidal tendencies, depression when you're not high, etc.
Pot is far safer in every respect than alcohol, period. No one is forcing you consume either.
I prefer edibles (chocolates), since I can control dosage exquisitely. 3mg of Indica before a run ensures a pleasant experience. Also helps with sleep and overall stress. I have never consumed over 5mg (1/2 of a candy), it seems like I would be baked on a full dose.
I will add that microdosing on edibles I have not developed tolerance, as seems to be the case with smoking. Probably due to better dosage control (one excessive toke and it's out-to-lunch time, which probably resets the threshold).

Ok, this explains a lot. You're a f-ckng pot head. No wonder your posts on nutrition are so full of idiocy, your brain is fried all the time.
I can't believe I was wasting time discussing science with some wasted, old hippie.
Ask anyone who has consumed legal cannabis just how "fried" they can get off of 3mg.
I assure you it is not at all mind-altering compared to the pustulent, odiferous and putrefying envy and ire you seem dedicated to cultivating in your rotting corpse of a soul. I can only imagine how devoid of meaning such a life must be.
Not a pot fan said: I guess this leads to the question—if it doesn’t help performance, why is it a banned substance?
it's surprising how few folk actually understand this, so some important points to note:
A. a substance (or method) does not have to actually confer an advantage for it to be banned. "they" can ban anything they want, and there is no requirement for them to provide any evidence of anything to support their ban. bottom line is, it's banned because it's banned because they want to ban it.
B. notionally, substances (or methods) can be banned for one of four reasons.
(1) it has the potential to enhance sports performance. they don't have to show that it does enhance sports performance, merely that a reasonable person might suppose that it has that potential.
(2) actual or potential health risk to an athlete. injecting LSD isn't going to improve your performance, but it is a pretty heavy health risk.
(3) its use violates the spirit of sport. this pretty much covers anything "they" would prefer you not to do because "they" know better.
(4) some substances (or methods) are banned because they have "the potential" to mask use of another substance (or method) that is banned because a reasonable person might suppose that it does enhance sports performance, even though neither one of those substances (or methods) can be shown to actually do what "they" claim.
notes:
1. since we can conclude from the recent IAAF decisions that "the spirit of sport" means, "to f*ck everyone over so that we can make as much money as possible," any substance (or method) you can get for free obviously "violates the spirit of sport."
2. the following cannabinoids are prohibited: natural cannabinoids, e.g. cannabis, hashish and marijuana, Synthetic cannabinoids e.g. Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and other cannabimimetics.

You'd get arrested and put into a holding cell until you post bail. You wouldn't be sent to prison where the showers/rapes happen. Nice try otherwise.
Its fun!
Nobody injects LSD. LSD is also not a "pretty heavy health risk."
