There is no downside to taking edibles on athletic performance is there?
From the research I've done I haven't been able to find any evidence that they have negative long or short term effects on aerobic performance.
Please post if you know of ANY downside!

There is no downside, outside of the amount of Skittles and popsicles I eat when the munchies hit.
One of the only "downsides" of prolonged cannabis use can be premature muscle fatigue. However, that comes from an epidemiological study from people who "smoke" cannabis. I'd like to see a study on athletes who either vape or use edibles to see if there are any long term effects.

You'd get arrested and put into a holding cell until you post bail. You wouldn't be sent to prison where the showers/rapes happen. Nice try otherwise.

Downside of edibles for me is it takes a variable amount of time for edibles to kick in and dosing therefore becomes a b*tch. Vaping I'm interested in. Not tried it yet but it seems like a nearly perfect solution. Agreed on the study and it will be interesting to see who has the balls to create and participate in that. I don't expect to see it anytime soon.

It’s well known that cannabinoid consumption modifies your body’s REM/NREM sleep balance. Luckily, cannabinoids reduce time in REM and increase time in NREM, and NREM is the physically restorative sleep phase, so your running probably won’t suffer as long as you don’t end up dangerously REM-deficient (which carries mental bealth risks). Apart from that, edibles are 99.9% safe.

Right now, I'm doing an experiment. I don't like to smoke anything. So I'm taking a heaping teaspoon of marijuana every night for sleep, just the crushed leaf. It takes about 2 hours, reliably, to hit. That's on an empty stomach. Otherwise, it can take 3-4.
It seems to help, so far, it's only been 10 days. Evidently, I'm not taking enough to get the munchies.
I'm interested in vaping. Can anyone share their experiences? I'd like to get a good vape device. As I imagine I'd be using it daily/nightly.

I doubt it's doing anything at all -- the effect is purely psychological. You need to decarboxylate it in order to make it orally active.

A couple of things...1) if you compete at a high (no pun intended) level pot is still a banned substance 2) I don’t have a ton of personal experience but I would imagine edibles would make you lazy (like smoking pot) and decrease motivation for training.
I am fine with pot being legal but if you’re a serious runner I doubt it helps performance to use pot. I guess this leads to the question—if it doesn’t help performance, why is it a banned substance? I don’t know the answer to that.

Raw flower isn’t really psychoactive - you need to decarboxylate the THC (heat it to 220degF or so) in order for it to have an effect. Vaping will still bother your lungs a little, but it’s 1% as rough as smoke and there’s generally little smell. The Pax is the gold standard of portables, and other tabletop units like Da Buddha are also great.

I've never found that to be true. It's dried. Once, a long time ago, I took 2 spoonfuls of dried weed, and got ripped off my ass. With the stuff my housemate has given me, if I take over a certain amount, I get stoned. Under, just mellow.
But that time I took two spoonfuls, lol, I was so ripped, passed out, slept like a log for 9 hours, woke up felt fantastic and went for a run. No hangover or ill effects.
