Brazier just broke the indoor AR, and had Murphy been in the race, he would have been mixing it up in the top 3 as well.
Is 1:42.60 a long shot, or will we see it go down this year?

Depends on what Kenyans get citizenship this year.
I think its very likely. Plus, Brazier looks like he's ready for a huge pr this year. He's probably in sub 1:43 shape right now and he hasn't even done any speed work. He and Murphy could probably get it in a Diamond League race. It may take a 1:42 to win nationals this year.
Don’t count Harris out either and a few college guys will be close. Sowinski is always solid and he likes to take it out so they won’t need a pacer.
Both Brazier and Murphy need to concentrate on making U.S. team this summer. There are no guarantees. Eight-hundred metres is a very competitive event world wide. It is unlikely both make World Championship 800m final. There will be more than one guy with 1:44.00 to 1:44.50 800m personal bests making W.C. 800m final in September. Racing great now does not mean sh&t.
why chase records ...? wrote:

Medal available at World's will depend on whether the UTEP guys get popped.
Not a long shot by any means. He will certainly dip under 1:43 again this year and has a good chance of breaking Gray's record.
