They adjusted the qualifying times for 2020 to be five minutes faster. Any guesses as to whether the new times will guarantee you a spot at Boston? I understand that in theory, nothing is guaranteed, but given that you had to run about 4ish minutes faster than the qualifying time last year, the new time that is 5 minutes faster should get you a spot. Interested to hear people's opinions.
The cutoff was -4:52 last year, which is essentially 5 mins. Sorry to say this but id say it jumps another 90-120 seconds again.
There is no qualifying time for Boston. All you need is enough money and you are in. No need to even prove your ability to walk 26 miles.

I was very close this year estimating a cut-off of 4:45 under BQ.
Si I will make a prediction for next year: BQ - 0:50 will get you a spot.

I say it is close. Everyone already has the Vaporfly. Everyone that needs Revel downhillers has done them. The "Streakers" that got nearly a 5 minute bonus in 2019 won't have that in 2020. More spots for everyone.
The wildcard is the 5%. No one knows how much faster the 5% is over the 4%. Well no one except some select few.
How can the Vaporfly 4% be improved ?

I would say no.
The times at the 2018 Boston Marathon were faster than 2017 and 2016 even with the cold rain.
Firmer plate is my guess.

No. But it's not like anyone lands on their forefoot for a marathon anyway.

You have it backwards. Landing on your heel doesn't engage the plate. Landing on your forefoot you bend the plate as you land and get more energy return as it straightens during lift off.
