people have discussed the girls winner at NXN and her race quite a bit since she won over a week ago.

Or the silly Mt Sac footlocker half road race.
Feel really more people will discuss nxn - because more people are involved in nxn - there are a lot of above average kids flying across the country to a meet to be treated as elites even though they are not. They run in shitty weather and it’s a big advertisement for Nike. A certain group of athletes will run better at Nike - and the results of the past show. Foot locker is a fair course - more chance every kid has an equal shot for the given conditions. (Mud and spikes are tough for 1/3 the county)
There are many runners who enjoy post season experiences. I think 1 or 2 MORE prominent national meets would not hurt anything...

I agree, we need the best of the best competing against each other. No more dodging competition. And, let's start actually having XC races on actual XC courses again. Not these sissy golf courses.
I take it you consider the majority of NCAA XC courses sissy courses as well?...

The only reason more people are involved with NXN is that the organizers keep adding in more and more athletes as the years progress. There's a reason it was Nike Team at first and now it just nike nationals. This year at Nike, 203 boys finished and 202 girls finished. The first NTN had 146 and 140 for comparison, just as a team competition. In 14yrs they've added roughly 60 more athletes. It's a huge commercial for Nike is all it is. You give a ton of HS all this sweet Nike gear and then let them take it home afterwards. They have walking advertisements now all over the country. It's a very well run meet imo, but I just don't agree with the adding more and more athletes into a meet that is supposed to be seen as a national championship. It gets watered down when you keep adding more athletes and is no longer as elite then.
It also seems like a bigger staple for athletes to say they were just 1 of 40 to make it to FL vs 1 of 200+ to make it to NXN.

I don't follow. They added individuals who are the best from each of the regions. Most of the regional top finishers would not make it a a member of a team. That hardly waters the National field down. It adds depth to the front runners. And of course, most of the field of 200 make it as a member of a team - one of the top 22 teams in the country.
