Agree! Running for a University is great!
What is meant with that list?
BTW: good race for Cranny yesterday (who ran unattached) at BU Opener (new PB of 15:24)

Have no clue what could happen in 2020 but her pre race interview with DyeStat prior to this years race spoke volumes. She is well guided, talented, focused, determined, and has that little extra DNA that speaks CHAMPION. Her composure and thought process of the task ahead was a thing of beauty. If she stays healthy and prioritizes her craft, I feel it's safe to say we are witnessing a period of time that portends her future.
I't hard to say what's impossible when a young athlete is on a sharp improvement curve and is alreay at a sub-elite. However, Touhy has not shown the raw speed to excel in the 1500 beyond perhaps a good NCAA athlete. Also, with Martinez and Lipsey moving up to the 1500 and possibily Colleen Quigley moving down to the 1500; the event is just to crowded with talent to have a shot unless you are capable of running in the 4-low single digits. Things don't get much easier in th 5000, but, Touhy's 15:37 5k with 2 years of modest improvement could put her around 15:10. That probably won't make the team either, but it's good enough that you can't say it's impossible. The issue for Touhy will likely be her ability to kick off of a 15:10 pace, which what usually separates the athletes who make the team and who don't. My advice to Touhy would be 2 years of NCAA and and make 2024 the focus.
Plenty of opportunities for Tuohy to improve her kicking ability in the NCAA.
Does Ajee Wilson count as a HS distance star?
Alexa Efraimson is still running well (no way can Touhy beat her in a 1500). I predict Alexa makes the team for the 1500 in 2020.

What's wrong with Cranny's career at Stanford?
Would turning pro have cured Murphy's popliteal artery entrapment syndrome?
Baxter = head scratcher.
Baxter matured physically, no head scratching there. No one's fault.

Good thing that isn't going to happen to Touhy
I would make World Jr Cross the immediate focus.
So the site that OP linked has NO MENTION of Katelyn Tuohy going for the 2020 trials. Sorry boys, I think you all got trolled. 10/10 to OP for duping all of these suckers, though I am shocked that nobody even bothered to click the link to verify his claim. Maybe don't be so gullible?

It looks like the link now goes to a list of videos but the convo did happen. It's here:

Also you being an idiot made me watch the whole thing which I found one thing interesting. Asked about mileage she made a joke that's it's classified information, then said she doesn't keep track of it and just does what her coach says and that they focus mainly on workouts. Take that for what you will, but based off that and other things I've read I would guess that she is training hard and running alot. So she should keep improving because she has a lot more room to improve in how far she runs and how hard her workouts are.....
Hasay, efraimson, cranny, Baxter, Cain, rainsberger, etc, etc, etc
0 Olympic teams
Being a hs female phenom is usually bad for future Olympic prospects. How have we not remembered that fact? Tuohy is a great hs athlete but that's it and will likely remain that.

I mostly agree with you. My main question then is:
Did these girls ever have a chance?
Was it them being a phenom that caused them to not have a future?
OR for some reason where they just able to burn bright for a short while but nothing they could have done would have changed things?
Okay first off, katelyn touhy will NOT make the cut that’s really funny. Second off, even if she did they would have drug tests and guarantee she wouldn’t pass based off her muscular build. No way the amount of oxygen & blood can get to the muscle as quick as it needs to and she for sure doesn’t do good enough training for it to. She isn’t a prodigy, she’s is a fake. Her training is extremely unimpressive & honestly I’m sick of hearing about her. There are pro athletes that WILL make it to the Olympics and have worked so hard to get there while getting no recognition because everyone praises this junior in HS meat head for what? Taking testosterone & EPO lol
Touhy has an amazing aerobic engine but seems to lack the raw speed (2:09 800 m) and kick to excel at track at the upper echelon. This could change but I believe Houlighan, Rowbury, Ostrander and of course the East Africans would leave her in the dust the last lap. Track development is good for her but her best chances of success are with the marathon like Radcliffe.

A) not everyone at the trials gets tested. But also
B) you’re accusing a HS athlete of taking drugs, without any tangible proof. Just because they focus on weight training as well to running. Tuohy has been good since 7th grade. She’s not gonna make the 2020 Olympic team but I don’t get why people are attacking someone for trying to make the trials in HS.

Very interesting. Who of their contemporaries did qualify in 2016?

Or for a WC team?
Hopefully she goes to Boise. Heck of a program they’ll have!
As an interesting footnote--well before Touhy was a household word among hs runners, it seemed like Grace Ping was the last running prodigy--breaking age group wrs. Still good, her younger sister Lauren left her in the dust during Nike NXN champs. This just shows --as with stock prices the danger in trying to extrapolate future running performance based on current fitness--too many exogenous variables come into play.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
