2018 boston, 214 flat gets you the win by nearly half a mile.
Not sure if you are a troll or just ignorant.
2018 Boston was won by Yuki who is a 2:08 marathoner.
A 2:14 guy was not close.

You guys just want to ignore the Jared Ward, Meb Keflezighi, Brian Sells of the world, right? Guys with molasses PRs compared to the field and still place Top 10 or medal, right?

If your a 2:14 guy you can literally have a good battle with Dennis Kimetto and beat him to the line. I wonder what age Bekele will be before he is a 2:14 guy. Probably when he is 50 he will be able to run that time still.
I don’t literally think Fatty Bekele will ever run 2:14 again, as he’s literally grossly overweight

Are you telling us that we should have a fistfight with Kimetto?
Yes! But only while you’re running a 2:14 marathon.

If your ceiling is 2:14 you will never be a professional marathoner. You are often misled because you may occasionally beat guys that are making a living off of the sport. For example a 27:50 guy debuts at 2:16. This guy is a pro because of his potential. He has the chance to be a 2:10 guy and that is what a shoe company is willing to pay for.
It`s possible to live on prizemoney for a 2:14 marathoner if selects races carefully I think. I coached a winner of an Asia marathon and he won at 2:17 and 10000 dollars in first price ! If you can recover fast almost like Yuki Kawauchi and my countryman Kjell-Erik Ståhl it`s possible.
Considering his run in Amsterdam was 7 minutes under 2:14 if he finished and he done it from 7 weeks of training due to injuries and having to run conglomerate of businesses I think 2:14 would be as easy as A B MF C to him.
Find a country that does not have a good marathoner. Find a way to represent their country like this guy (with 2:27 PB) did . If you are a 2:14 guy there are far more opportunities.
