I'll add to this. I don't know your major. Please tell me. If your internship is like crazy black and white Office Space culture then find another one. Use this intern time to see how meetings work agendas etc. Find a government related agency they have the best intern friendly experiences. If your major is Comp Sci then you can find plenty of Google style cultures that would love inters. If your major is business and your currently working for like Deer Park's corporate office or w/e and don't like it then change your major.
I am a mechanical engineering major and the company I am an intern at mostly specializes in electrical engineering. I interviewed for the position and got the internship by talking one-on-one with my current supervisor and telling him about my engineering-related studies and projects. He was impressed by my current level of knowledge that I picked up in Physics, engineering courses, etc., but there was also a decent amount of information that is specific to this company for me to learn. I found out about the internship through a friend of mine's father, and my friend interns here over the summer when he is not in high school. His grandfather is the CEO of the company, so he has more of an impact when it comes to wanting new experiences. I have seen some of the projects that he has gotten to work on, and he is undoubtedly getting much more out of the experience than I am. He was tasked to draw his own circuit boards, design a model which was then made into a prototype, and things of that nature (I don't know if he had the same supervisor as me). Me on the other hand, my boss throws me at busy work. I am given the grueling task of walking back and forth to the scanner and placing all the documents into organized folders. At first I figured if the paperwork was helping the company, I am glad to work on it, but it turns out the papers are from several years ago and are specific to him, so basically I am helping him just organize his office. It all seems like a waste, and if I don't get more assignments where I am gaining experience, I am considering leaving after the new year and just studying engineering topics independently on my own in my free time. The internship takes up a lot of my free time, and I often have to run late at night in very cold temperatures just to work it around the office hours. My dad wants me to leave as well, he knows that I could have my talents applied elsewhere, and the time investment is not worth wasting away the whole day when I could be learning something new. Sorry for ranting, but this is a big decision for me.
