When is the race?
Are any famous runners running it?
Is Kip Litton update?
Will be interesting to see if any of the elites who were supposed to do TNF 50 decide to fly east and do JFK

Not for sure on the start list.
Snowing there now.
0% chance of Geoff Burns losing.
Do you need to qualify for this race or can anyone enter? I've done 3:07 at age 45 and been thinking about doing an ultra for fun and a new challenge.

If only there was a website you could go to that you could find out this information...
The JFK it a putz race. It's almost as bad as Umstead. Want to run a real ultra then go run something like Wasatch.
Don't get me started on Umstead. They know what they are as far as a 100 mile race goes. They don't try to pretend they are some bad-a** mountain run. My problem with them comes from the fact that the race sells out in like 5 minutes and a good number of people sign up only to do the "50 mile option". Plus, if you complete at least 50 miles, yet drop from the 100, they dont count you as a DNF, they just move you to the 50 mile list.

Good preview is up:

Eric Senseman - Defending champion, won last year in 5:46:54
Zach Miller - 2013 winner in 5:38:40
Geoff Burns - Recently placed 5th at World 100K championships
Jared Hazen - Placed 3nd as Western States in 2015 and 2nd at the Lake Sonoma 50 miler this year... coming back from an injury that put him out of Western States and UTMB this summer
Seth Marcaccio - Canadian collegiate XC champion, has done some mountain running from the looks of it
Notably absent is Jim Walmsley, the course record holder, who was signed up for TNF 50 this Saturday prior to its cancellation. He's stated on Strava: "Finding it unmotivated to buy an expensive plane ticket to travel across the world for a different race with mandatory gear strapped to my back. I prefer to run with no gear, maybe a bottle if need be (UTWT). Still pondering more options after the cancellation of TNF, but for now, I will get my training going again and save my fitness for some Arizona, desert, winter trail adventuring."
Female contenders:
Leah Frost - 2016 winner in 6:23:40, "her race to lose," according to race director
Kaci Lickteig - 2016 Western States winner
Kate Pallardy - 2:40 marathoner
It should be in the low thirties at the 6:30 AM start time.
Is the AT and towpath still covered with snow?
