Actually never seen it but I thought you make have got a role in the show. Seems you'd be up for it.
>>>>Sad the amount of serious injuries incurred by race-walking. Completely unnatural hyperflexion of the hips, ITB, and hyperextension of the hamstrings.
In all my years of medicine, the careers of a race-walker are short lived, and yes, many of them were eccentric human beings.
......................................................................
2003 world champs....50km, first place age 35 (also 3 times Olympic champion at 50km), 2nd age 39. Winner of women's race age 38 (also Olympic silver medallist in 1992 and gold medallist in 1996). Pity they didn't have long careers they could've achieved so much more. Not many injuries come from walking due to the lack of ground impact. Some of the master's walker's who have been walking for 40, 50, 60 years will testify to that.
Few torn hamstrings in racewalking. Most sore hammy's are due to muscle spasms because of tightness through the piriformis. Pelvic stability is important in racewalking.
Don't want to really turn this into a walk v run thing, I like both sports (all sports). Depends on which side of the gene pool you come from in regards to the sport you're good at. I'm sure alot of you would embrace racewalking if you were good enough to make a team. The perspective on it would be so much different. If I could run I'd do it, but then again if I could cycle or play footy I'd do that because it pays more!

Depends which country you're from. Now there's something wrong with the word "footy". Sums up you're insecurities pretty well. You have problems, go get some therapy. You'd be hoping I was gay fagboy because you'd be so hard waiting for it. But sorry to say, in this instance only one of us is gay, and sadly for you it's not me. Never thought you could keep out of the "Blue Oyster Bar" long enough to post a message.
Walker TR,
I gotta admit I have read your posts and do think there is a pretty good chance you are not exactly a "straight arrow" if ya know what I mean.
You keep accusing others of it and it just seems to me you might be.
Training partner/coach is/was an 2 x Olympian racewalker. Happened to also run 30:00 10 km and 2:16 marathon.
Likes women.
You wanna race him?
We would embrace walking if we were good enough to make a team...
uh, since there's about 8 people in the states that walk, I think it would be very likely that someone could make a team. I'm not saying they would be good, but they would make it because nobody wants to do it. In high school, there was always one or two people who were serious about; and they were accompanied by someone (even shot put guys or pole vaulters) who would enter the event because they could actually medal (because no one wanted to do it). I even knew girls who were afraid to do it because they thought they'd be laughed at if they did. Sadly, it's probably true though.
I don't get the sport one bit. I'm going to try and go as fast as I can by limiting my mobility. Huh? That just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe it should be a whole separate sport instead of track and field, because it just seems so different than the rest of the events.
Oh yeah, Walker, I swear you need to get a life (now that I said that, he'll reply here with credentials. a.k.a. children, how big his home is, his income, what he drives blah blah). You're always telling people that they're gay and whatever after we accuse you. All people are trying to do is help ya out of the closet. And geez, why are you so homophobic? I bet racewalking in San Fran would be a thrill for ya :P
My college coach went to the olympic trials for racewalking. probably because he couldn't cut it with running... guess he was desperate to make the trials...no matter what sport or how it would affect his sex life.
personally, I think that racewalking is for people who want to be runners but can't run fast.

They certainly belong in beach vollyball.
Btw, I racewalked, still do.
No, my parents do not know.

but note that even Michael Rohl is no longer competitive and has gained quite some weight in the past couple of years, and I believe he was a coach/athlete at one time.
This IS Coach Mike Rohl responding. I was sent the link by mjr.
My career was cut some what short by a coaching injury and a lifting injury. I have also been in no less then 5 auto accidents. The coaching injury was a second degree tear to 7 ligaments in my ankle when I stepped off a pole vault pit. I was working with a high school senior who jumped 14-9 as he prepared for the Great South West meet. I completely destroyed the stability of that ankle and I can’t even run. The final injury came while lifting my wife’s father. In 2003 Michelle’s Dad was dying of cancer. He was in his final days and needed to be moved. I was the only one there. Sometime you do what you have to do and I lifted him. My back hasn’t been the same and I can’t run anymore. All I can do now is walk with the dog – which I do each day - 5 miles.
During my career I had normal sport injuries. Strained hamstring, a little tendonitis – both from running and walking - nothing severe. And yes I have gained weight and I hate it. There is nothing like running or racewalking to keep the weight down. So now at least you have the truth of it. And since you seem to know me I think you should have emailed me and asked instead of using my name anonymously on this board.
This is THE Walk Tall who started the thread.
Why so huffy? Doc Walk was not insulting to you? You were not the point of his post, just a part of it.
No one has even posted on this thread in a couple months. Sounds like yer buddy is trying to rile everyone up.
btw, did you tell your parents?
This is the most halarious thing I have read all day, possibly all week. Well done Letsrun, well done!
Pardon me. My intent was not to sound huffy at all. I was just clarifying the facts of the situation. And since the comments were about me I thought I had a personal interest. That was all. Personally, I am not at all concerned over whether some likes the walks, hammer TJ or what ever else come to their minds. But I do care if someone makes a statement about my life - to some extent any ways.

And if I'm your dad, I would tell you to get the hell out of my house. Don't return until you get your mind right and get that s*** out of your system. Even then I wouldn't want you coming around except for Christmas and maybe Thanksgiving and that's only for the sake of your mother.
When all our friends and co-works ask, "Hey how's that boy of yours?" I would tell them, "I have no son." Now accept that!
And then when you're 75, poor, and in bad health and have to be put in a nursing home, or will end up alone on the street, you truly will have no son. I'd love to see your sorry ass come crawling back to your son, begging for help like a little b****. Then, to see him take a bat and beat you to death, would be just priceless. You ignorant f***!

all racewalkers cheat
Brilliant post
I'm not sure how to reply to the original post as I am not gay like the Texas Ranger, but I guess I would have told my parents I was gay as I love them and I know they would respect me for who I am, so I would probably reinforce this fact and tell them I was a racewalker, but man tough call
this thread was amazing.
bump.
