Seems like 100 people filed complaints about him... Doe 1 to 100... They want to sue all 100 complainants?

Depending how you read that quote, it could be interpreted to mean that the news broadcasts were defamatory. Certainly he got a fair amount of defense on the threads on this website. Probably more posts in his favor than otherwise.
The $25k reference is just a formality.
Damage claims for settlement will start at lifetime earnings lost, intangible damage to reputation, emotional trauma.... The pleading doesn't mention some damage things I would expect but grace a dios, I am not a Cali attorney. They also claim a "property interest" in his employment, which is totally foreign to me.
It is interesting to me that they include "parents" as part of the Does but not the complaining former athletes - probably money. When mierda happens at a frat/sorority, for example, the parents of the special-angel get sued to tap into their insurance, so I guess that is why. The big money is the school though. They can wave a magic check-book and make it go away. If everyone digs in, a wily plaintiff will make discovery as painful as possible for anyone close to the decision makers.

Ironic that the coach is suing for "emotional trauma". Clearly there are a lot of athletes saying he traumatized them. I wonder if some of them were smart enough to film some coaching sessions.....

A ridiculous lawsuit domino effect is about to happen.
1) Ex-coach sues running message boards.
2) The message boards all shut down, so I am unable to obtain sound advice on avoiding injury during my runs and am deprived of motivation to run.
3) I get injured and cannot find anymore motivation to run from the online message boards. Runner's World and all those other silly blogs could not replace the wonderful forums brought down by that silly lawsuit.
4) My fitness declines and I become obese. High cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, and depression then follow. My medical bills go way up.
5) I then sue the ex-coach for causing me to lose my running fitness, since the lack of quality running forums made me fat and sick and unhealthy and broke my bank account as a result.
6) We all go broke. At the very end, everybody is worse off.

I think technically he's alleging that the actions of the administration subjected him to evisceration on the message boards. He's not anywhere near suing letsrun for damages.
It doesn't seem clear to me how he will win for age discrimination... unless some idiot put in an email that they will save a bunch of money by having a younger coaches. I don't see it being a reality. With him only making $90k - it doesn't exactly show how one could save money when the annual budget exceeds a billion dollars. I don't know how much a Div 1 xc and track coach makes but I would image the replacement of him would be in that ballpark or higher?

One of his claims is that the university violated his due process rights by firing him without a formal hearing. In order for due process to apply, he needs to prove he had a property interest in the job -- tenure, or (in this case) an employment contract.
