it has been announced this morning. With Avery Anderson gone, where does this program go next? Possibly affirmation that UCLA does want to be successful in track and field and cross country
Not surprising, UCLA can do better. Will be interesting to see whether a new head coach fires all the assistants or whether the likes of the distance coach will live on. This is a little sad though after UCLA just came 3rd and 5th at Pac12's and are finally looking ok as a team
0 chance they invest anything into XC. They'll just work on their sprints and field since they at least still have a foundation there. And then they can dump more money into Football or Basketball or something.

The rumor is they are dropping cross country in the fall.
The rumor is true. Brosnan is back in the picture to coach at UCLA as NCAA has cleared him from false allegations. Exciting times.
lolz
My understanding is they have no idea what to do. Apparently the people that decide things there are all carefully reading Letsrun for advice to decide their next move. As wee all know, the best possible choices for UCLA, and all other schools, are hotly debated right here!

Will need more $$ for FB/BB travel to away conference games next year for sure since they aren't getting squat from Big10 for awhile as new members. Cutting XC seems reasonable but I hope not.

I know this is late to the game, but UCLA has not been receiving money from alumni, USC has, but UCLA has been running at a significant deficit the last three years, they will be keeping cross country as long as the Big Ten contract goes through as well as swimming an gymnastics, which were also on the cutting board. UCLA only receives $17 million from donors yearly, which is nothing compared to the deal with the Big Ten (close to $100 million). This will cover travel costs and track/cross country are small cost sports.
If their travel costs are such a big concern, then they shouldn't have partnered with USC to be the first stick of dynamite to destroy the Pac-12. Idiots. College football money has destroyed everything and I can't stand it.
