But this thread isn’t about Kiprop, is it? It’s about two bitter kiwis starting and partaking in a mean spirited whisper campaign aimed at discrediting one of the most talented distance runners in history.
How is attributing Eliud as 40 and running 2:01 in any way "discrediting"? If anything, it makes him more legendary. No need for "whispers"at all. Even Eliud hmself may not know the real facts of the matter. Unless concrete evidence either way is presented, we just have to be comfortable with possibility rather than certainty.
Haile has been also thought by many as having been years older, and in no way is that seen as a discredit to his accomplishments, if anything it is a further credit. And Bernard legitimately lends creedence to the concept of Kenyan durability with age.
They are calling him a liar. That's discrediting someone. And why should Eliud have to present "concrete evidence" of his age? He has a valid Kenyan passport which required a birth certificate to be issued. He's Catholic and the church has records of baptisms and confirmations so that should be easy to check for anyone interested. School enrolment records are also available. Again, why should Eliud have to convince anyone of his age just because some hateful kiwi who doesn't personally know or associate with him made some wild, spiteful allegations on social media?
I'm thinking this Robertson person can't make the news off his own athletic achievements so he flails wildly trying for waves and attention usually by negative talk about Kenya and Kenyans.
