okay, my "come-back" has hit a snag. it started about a month ago towards the end of my run. i stopped for less than 30 seconds waiting for a light to change green. when i started running again, i got a sharp pain in my knee. it continued without much relief for the rest of the run which was only another 30 minutes. since that time, every time i run, i either get a twinge or two of the same kind of pain or just a strain in that area. a few points:
- it's hard to pinpoint the pain. it's to the lateral side of my patella tendon, but it doesn't seem like it's the IT band. i think it might be either cartilige possibly ligament.
- i don't think it's a tendon because there is no pain in the start of the run, it takes a few miles before it comes on. and it tends to just get worse as the run goes on.
- it doesn't hurt to land or push off of the bad leg. it hurts when i swing the leg forward. and the more bent my knee is on the swing, the more it hurts. in other words, if i run with almost no kick-back, there is almost no pain. but it's not like i have a big kick-back to begin with.
sorry this is so long. it's just a bizarre injury that doesn't fit with anything i've ever had in the past. any ideas?
thanks a lot.
