OR light for me this morning. Started hailing at mile 8/13 so I picked it up to get inside sooner. Last mile ~6:25

Nice. Still a bit of a flyer, no doubt.
I messed up my dates- I don’t get there until Halloween unfortunately. Bummed to miss the race. Maybe that Chicago Shamrock 8k in March could be a good hammerfest for you.

Nice work, pewow. OR light is better than no OR at all. :-)
I got into it pretty well this morning...and early, too, as I had to get to work. My hilliest route...19.13 at 6:28.7 overall, finishing with a bunch of 6:1x miles and then 6:06 and 5:58.
Also, RunnersFix, great to hear from you. Belated congrats on the OTQ this spring and great to see some of your current training. Wouldn’t be surprised at all to see a 2:14-2:15 from you in the near future
Allen - Just got home from work. How did your day go? Long run? Tonight’s menu?

Hey, OR! I just got home as well. Tiling a custom shower, but squeezed in a nice 10-miler from the worksite as darkness descended. Another week about to go into the log book, eh? How are those group runs going?
I am working toward increasing my mileage, but as I have mentioned before, time management is one of my biggest challenges. Here on LetsRun, I often read that if one really wants to run, then it's no big deal to make the time.
I think back to my 30s, when I was running 4-hour marathons because it really seemed I had no time to train. 60-hour work-weeks, long commute, the twins hadn't started school (no daycare as I worked nights and my wife worked days). But besides all that, there were lots of other pursuits that took time. Silly things, in retrospect, but here is an example:
Trying to learn stone masonry, I built a small building in my backyard (modeled after a typical 19th-century smokehouse, except I included a window). Coursed glacial cobblestones, natural-face Oriskiny sandstone quoins, historically accurate lime-sand mortar:
https://imgur.com/a/EC8Ltw1Now it's time for dinner and a beer. Or two.
Allen - I like the stone building. Have always liked stone fireplacces and such. So, can you put a small bed in there, and can I bunk there for a while? Any insulation in that abode, or would I freeze my skinny rear end off in the winter?
Beautiful work, Allen.
Sold that property in 1993. 1820 house, but it been expanded a couple times during the 19th century. I much prefer my current house, with a completely original footprint from 1832. Original woodwork, windows, doors ...
I have drawn up plans for a stone carriage house to build here, but ... hmm ... more miles or mixing mortar ...
Interesting...
Regarding the group runs...have not had to do one in a few weeks now. I think you can guess how I feel about attempting to run 9:00 pace...
Allen that looks great aesthetically. How was it for functionality?
Hey, Pappy, my friend, how are you on this fine fall evening?
Pappy -- No real intended purpose. My wife insisted I build it way back behind the barn, so not very accessible. (She was dubious of how it would turn out, I think). Just a project to learn the craft, along with a buddy of mine. Now, of course, masonry is one of my professional skills, so I suppose those 1990 efforts weren't completely in vain.

Tonight’s menu?
AJ - hamburgers cooked on the grill
Stone - pot roast
Still improving - lasagna
HHH - fish and chips
Slo - grilled salmon salad
Stat - fast food
Working harder - Tex mex
TDR - mocha Frappuccino
OR - applebees cheeseburger
RRR - Brussels spouts and tofu wrap
Smoove - macaroni and cheese and pedialyte
GT - bratwurst + oatmeal cookies
JB - corn dogs
RunnerSam - green eggs and ham
Coach Jeff - braised pork and rice
Pewow - power clings and a protein shake
Allen - a box of nails
How’d I do?
AJ - You did great! Very accurate and extremely entertaining! You are very close with the applebee’s cheeseburger (I like them), even though I ate my wife’s teriyaki chicken and rice tonight (among other things). I say this because my 16- year-old daughter now works at Roy Rogers, and I have been indulging in many a cheeseburger after a hard day’s work (I get a discount when she is on shift).
AJ -- Ha! Too funny. You nailed my menu for sure!
I had pasta. For a late snack we had AJs fave...Raw cold cucumbers and dip.. and pickled okra (my daughters favorite ..I am raising her right as a southerner)
Couple 4 Busch NAs. Already leaning towards a peanut butter and banana wrap after w soy milk.
Another 81 mile week in the books And the appetite has been burning hotter than a dumpster fire.
I will be eating a lot of cheap pasta now that your tide covered.
The macaroni and cheese and pedialyte takes the cake!
Veggieboi - real southerners take their okra fried and they never bet against the Tide. Enjoy your ramen noodles.
Ha! I'm closer to Runner Sam's fare as it is Sunday-morning-post-long-run-brunch-time here.
Scouting the Red Sox potential WS opponents...
