Last week I was out running on some trails and turned my right ankle pretty badly (outward turn). It hurt right when I did it, but after just a few minutes, I was able to resume running without any pain. There was no swelling, but I iced it that night anyway. The next day there was no pain, just a little tightness in the lower leg. This happened on Monday, and I ran all week with no pain whatsoever. I pretty much forgot that it happened. Then on Saturday I raced a half marathon. Things went well and I still felt no pain. But on Sunday I did a really easy 8 miler to loosen up my legs and I felt a minor pain in the outside top of my foot, kind of below and in front of my ankle. I didn't think much of it and just iced again after the run. Then yesterday it hurt really badly when I ran. I iced again, but there is still no visible swelling and no discoloration. Today it hurt so badly that I had trouble walking around at work. I don't know what I did. I read about longitudinal peroneal tendon injuries, but it seems like there should be some swelling associated with this. I've been running great lately and really don't want to mess up my training. If anyone has had similar experience and knows how to treat this, I would be incredibly grateful.
