Top-3 ranked D1 teams in CA.
GO had a 4:27 guy transfer in.
WR picked up two guys that ran 4:24.
DH picked up one guy that ran 4:17.
Who else got a sub-4:30 transfer?

DH also lost a 4:17/ 9:14 guy who went sub 15:30 at Woodward last year as a Sophomore.

I highly respect Rich and he is usually spot on with his rankings. However I would disagree with his rankings for this week. "Minimal Changes". I highly suspect that Rich is just waiting for Clovis this weekend for the teams to rank and sort themselves out.
My Top 10
1) Great Oak
2) Dana Hills
3) Loyola
3) Newbury Park
5) Claremont
6) La Costa Canyon
7) Thousand Oaks
8) West Ranch
9) St. Francis
10) LB Poly
Here's the top-8 today from Clovis. I'd say Rich predicted the top 6 correctly based on his rankings.
041 - 15:22 - Great Oak
142 - 15:44 - Newbury Park
154 - 15:45 - West Ranch
214 - 15:56 - Dana Hills
239 - 15:59 - Dublin
240 - 16:01 - St. Francis (Mt View)
245 - 16:01 - Crescenta Valley
265 - 16:05 - Ridgeview
Milesplit is made to look like fools with their national rankings due to using Meylan's speed ratings.
St. francis ran only 6 today. Their #3 guy was a late scratch.

Every team has their coulda-shoulda-wouldas, but this does look like a legitimate one. With Garcia in the lineup they would probably have taken 4th place.

West Ranch also only started six; the missing runner might have been their other 4:24 transfer. Guessing he got sick or was injured just prior to the meet. Since WR seems to have only brought their varsity to Clovis, they must not have had a back-up.
West Ranch had 7 in the race.

Nor according to the PDF of the official results:

If West Ranch had seven at the start, they didn't have seven at the mile mark. Which is certainly possible.
Just watched the race video posted on MileSplit - West Ranch only had six runners in the team intros.
This is usually the point were their coach starts recruiting kids from the other local schools to fill the gaps. Nobody recruits more than west ranch does! She has talked to multiple friends on my team at Hart alone this season! Coach your own kids lady!
Well, Milesplit sucks again...

Agreed! MileSplit is the worst. Dystat is so much better in rankings. I really don't know how they get it so wrong.
Loudon Valley has a very good top 5 overall, but they lack depth. They could very well lose NXN if one guy is off even a little bit. There's a lot of teams that have what I feel is much better depth. I couldn't classify them as the favorite, but would couple them in the running for a podium finish for sure.
California teams are good, but some are a bit overrated and over-represented on the rankings. Great Oak, on the other hand, are definitely one of the favorites at NXN.
Flower Mound is underrated, shouldn't be a #19 team. Probably about a top 13 team in my eyes. Bolles is not too far off from FM. Should be moved up a few more places.
LV does not lack depth..not at all. Check the results of GAXC ....remember that Affolder did not run and their “B” team won their race, the Seeded Invitational, with a kid who ran 15:57.

Their top 4 is really strong, 5 isn't far off and is solid for a race closer. But I think with the competition this year, if any of their top 5 is off they won't win. That's all I meant. I guess when I said "depth", I meant, I didn't think their replacement for their top guys, should they falter, was good enough (to win). Don't think their #6-7 are fast enough to score well (although of course, their times are going to be quicker than probably all but the top 5-7 teams).
I meant this with all respect, as I am speaking in regards to finishing as 1st in the team comp. They are definitely a great team, but there are 2 other teams that look just as good on paper in my eyes. For example, I really like what I see from Great Oak. Definitely a strong team this year.
I just looked at Clovis results, whoa is Great Oaks that good??! Are they better than Loudon Valley?
