Hmmmm.. the new Fly still has the carbon plate! So cheating just cheating less haha
The pappy plan feels like cheating as fast as my fitness seems to be gaining. Now ready for the cool weather back.. this Indian Summer sucks

Glad to hear it is a good shoe...not Vapor Fly good, but still good. Now I will not feel like I am cheating...
WHAT'S WRONG WITH CHEATING, OR??????
BTW I'm a little slow on getting through the thread this week, but man, you really killed that 20 miler. Nice work.
Good one...ha ha...yes, out with is Indian Summer...looking forward real October weather. Was back at it pretty well this morning. To be precise, I think I sense a change taking place in my body on the heels of that race. Closed very well today. Had an all uphill last mile, gradual but still uphill, and I think my best for that segment is 6:09...did it in 6:10 today, after a 6:12 mile just before it...and felt very good, too.
Love your sense of humor, bacca.
Thanks for the compliment on the 20-miler...high praise from a killer like you.

It is never ending. The 10-day forecast shows a low finally dipping under 70°F, but it's been showing that for 10 days now. Today it's 89°F + 79°F dew point. So. Stupid.
I just ordered some of the Peg 35s from Running Warehouse. Never had a Nike trainer before, but I liked the Peg 30-32 back when I worked at a running store. Kinda excited for something different. They'll be replacing the Saucony Zealots, which have been the perfect shoe for me but are currently unavailable on RW.
Wearing a pair of Peg 33s now.. love them for work.. was wearing them when the Piriformis hit so ditched them as a trainer as they dont have much "tortional support" .. Prob coincidence but it was in my brain.
What is funny as right now its 85-85 highs 71-72 lows and humid. BUT for my HM on the 14th its showing mid 40s.. so will be Perfect if that holds. Looks like the big cooldown here is coming midweek. The cool down a while back was a total tease.
OR -Just something to watch w the Flys... some people have mentioned added stress on the Achilles. Just a heads up to pay attention to that!
Bacca - Sorry about the awful weather. It will make good weather feel REALLY good, though.
RRR - Thanks for the heads-up.

Not as good as yesterday, but "torsional"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torsion_(mechanics)heck I was close!
I am having to hurriedly type in between allllll this hard work I am doing today..Actually that is not true in the least.
Make that another one that does just about everything in the Kinvaras.
My other shoes are:
Hoka Clifton - I just can't stand to run in them any more. They are too uncomfortable for me in the area of the arch. I drag them out once a month or so to try to get enough miles in them so that I feel like I got my money's worth and it is then that I am reminded why I don't like to run in them.
Saucony Freedom - No complaints other than they are a heavy shoe. I got them in the olive green and ended up getting too many compliments and now I wear them a casual shoe to work and such.
Vaporfly 4% - The jury is still out on this one and they may end up going back. We'll see if I can make them work as I have problem in the arch which became evident as I slowed the pace down in this mornings run.
Reoccurring sock orders? Maybe you guys put in more mile than me. I've pretty much settled on Darn Tough for socks at this point and have not had to replace any yet.
I love Wrightsock quarters. The Asics three-pack quarters are pretty good for the money.
I get this thin russell socks at WM for racing and they are great.. and thicker ones for training and those are great.
Buying expensive socks is a waste of cash imo. Never get blisters etc
I go with whatever generic cotton/poly blend is on sale at Marshalls, although if I am ordering something online and need to add a few bucks to get free shipping, I usually add some balega or feetures socks, and almost always race in the feetures.
That is what we sell here, Balega, Feetures, Wrightsock, etc...
the weeks have been slipping away...
some comments from my alleged memory
Good luck to Gordon, AJ and Smoove this weekend. I guess I wouldn’t call the conditions similar to last year, but perhaps similarly challenging.... (no sun, but more humid. A little warmer at the start but maybe a little cooler at the finish)...anyway, folks still ran well and I think that will be the case on Sunday too. Gordon I think this will be a breakout race for you. AJ- I could see you well under 2:40. Smoove- who knows? I know better than to bet against you on the sub 2:30 quest! Being acclimated to warmer conditions is going to be huge in terms of masters’ placing
Birdwatcher- if you are in the game for Twin Cities, hammer it!
Outside Runner- good run. I’d be a little cautious with the marathon. Maybe take it out at 6:20 and see what develops.
Still Improving and Sub 6- hope you are back in the game soon.
Stat- impressive run sir. I like that you took it out hard and went for it.
Going Faster MPH- after 30k brisk workout usually 3 easy days will do the trick and then the next workout will be something smaller, some kind of tempo or mile repeats or something.
Working Harder- Jenkins! Yes. I was going to run Mohawk-Hudson half this weekend but I bailed and ran 24@95% today instead. It was going to cut into my Chicago tracking and viewing. Too warm for my taste for a half.
Sorry for anyone I missed
BDubs- good luck at the upcoming half
Pewow- good luck at the trail race, my bro won that one a few years back!
slo - It is never wrong to be cautious in the early part of a marathon, as there is plenty of time to speed up. In the 20-miler, we went out at 6:27, 6:19, and then rolled it down 6:0x. So, that is how I expect to approach things at Richmond. Certainly, I will be paying careful attention to how I feel.

Wow, did you mention that already? All the leaders started that cautiously, eh? Really impressive that you ramped up the pace that much, and held it. Were you monitoring mile splits the entire race? How did you feel, seeing those close-to-6-flat miles? Any of them tick in at 5:5x?! Great to hear you have bounced right back to those incredible progression training runs!
Man I spaced- Good luck to Andy as well!
Slo-twizzle my dizzle. Thanks again for coaching me thru the speed cycle this summer. I have a feeling that will be the difference come Sunday when it’s time to hammer.

Great questions, Allen, and thanks for the kind words. Those guys ran the race just as I would have wanted to run it. No need to go out on the fast side in such a long race. We went out the way I described, then did some 6:10-6:13, and tehn ran off a nice string of 6:0x miles--and yes there was a 5:55 in there! I think it was mile 8 or 9...will have to check. Normally, that would have really spooked me in a 20-miler, but I felt great at the time. Loved running with those guys. They made me feel comfortable. Again, they ran that race just the way I run races. Before I forget...also had some 6:0x miles in the second half. That slippery decline/incline situation at 16.5 is really what put a dent in me. Regarding today---that really took me by surprise...feeling that good and closing so well. I feel very blessed.
Will be leading the group training run for the store tomorrow in the eraly a.m.
All the best, my friend.
