Thanks for pointing out that 9:17 HS guys should be running 25 minutes. ND has some 8:50 HS guys running well over 25 minutes . They are way underperforming just like Ponder. Clinger ran 23:17 as a freshman. Show me a frosh who started at 25 minutes and went on to be a factor.
If I'm not mistaken both Aidan Tooker and Noah Affolder ran close to or over 26 mins for the 8k in there debuts, and they seem to be doing just fine now. Cut these guys some slack, a lot more than just training can contribute to sub par performances. The transition from high school to college is not an easy one and it takes some longer than others to adapt. I wouldn't be so quick to judge, it's still relatively early in the season. Also Clinger ran that on an extremely fast and short Louisville course.
Louisville isn't short. I raced there on Saturday. 8.01 kilometers or 4.98 miles, and I was cutting the tangents after the crowd thinned out around 2k. Sure, it's kinda fast, but the biggest thing is the competition, and I'm not just saying that. My team dropped like a minute from our PRs on average. One guy went from 27:51 to 26:02. Like it or not, Louisville is just an awesome meet but it's not short.
Quite the hate filled thread.
Freshman year should be about adapting to the new training program. It's laughable to write off careers of runners who have been at their college for 6 weeks.

Bump for ACCs.
Looks like the Irishmen made some orange juice this morning
ND men beat Syracuse and win ACCs. Women second because they have a few injuries and need a #5 runner to show up. It's a long season. It's a long college career. Go Irish.
This thread just shows how retarded the average poster is. I’m pretty sure not a single person here has broken 30 minutes in a 5k with how ignorant they are of competitive running
Danny Kilrea. Freshman -- Notre Dame. 10th place. 23:57.
Bow Down.
bump
Carlson, get off this thread.

Gosh you are just so right. Coach who inherits a 10th place team and wins ACC's two years later just has no clue what he's doing... wow i wish i had your wisdom
Why does this thread exist? Kilrea was 9th in the Great Lakes region today. #1 freshman in the region by a good bit, and well ahead of former Flotrack #2 recruit Dustin Horter. ND is doing great.
Because you just bumped it.
I am surprised at how well ND is performing. I admit that I did not expect it.
Jacobs didn’t run as well though. Never know what you are going to get at the collegiate level.
People started and came to this thread in a hateful effort to bring down the 19 year old kids that comprised ND's recruiting class. Then Danny Kilrea becomes an All-American as a freshman and no one says a damn thing. Wow.
I didn’t detect hate, just some reasonable doubt based on the past 5 years or so of laxadasical recruiting and underdevelopment of the decent recruits that they got. I was skeptical but was surprised at the team this year. They have some of the best recruiting classes from last year and next year.

lol Nice point. Carmody started at 25:05 as noted in this thread and ran 13:56 as a sophomore..he’s going to be a major factor by the end of his ND career, if you wouldn’t already call him a factor now
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
