I run outside every day (80 mpw average) and have never been a fan of hot weather running. On the other hand, I love running in temperatures that are below freezing. When its hot and humid, I have no trouble on my easy days, long runs, and can survive my interval workouts, but I always struggle big time on my tempo runs when the dew point is over 70.
Some people tell me that I just need to get acclimated, but I've had entire summers where I struggled during tempos, even if I slow the pace down a lot. As soon as the temps go down in September, I can run much faster and effortlessly.
Should I continue to fight through this all summer and do my 4-5 mile tempos, or should I try to find some other type of workout that is manageable?
