17 weeks till Chicago? Hell, I better start training...
Anyway, just ran a craptastic sweat fest in northern Indiana (word to the wise, never run a hot/humid marathon in northern Indiana...or any marathon in Indiana for that matter). Just found out I got into Peachtree so I'm putting in some fun anaerobic stuff for that. After that then it's 12 weeks or so till Chicago. I'll take 4 weeks to just get in some Lydiardesque mileage (100 in singles, including three "long runs" of 20-22, 16-18, 13-15.) Then 4 weeks to get in some strength work and start some marathon specific work (hill intervals, Lydiard hills circuit, long runs with an hour or so at marathon pace, raise the mileage to 120-140). Then the rest of the time (6 weeks I think) I'll put in some more specific marathon work and hard aerobic work (long runs with 1-1.5 at marathon pace or long intervals at marathon pace, tempo intervals 8x1, 4x2, 3x3, etc, then some high density shorter intervals like 10x1k w/1min, etc, keeping the mileage around 120 until the last 3 weeks.) If I can't run fast at Chicago then I can't run fast anywhere.
