The half-marathon this weekend in Copenhagen which is being billed as a world record attempt on both the men's and women's sides will not include Galen Rupp anymore. He has pulled out of the race.
Alberto Stretti broke the news and writes, "Galen Rupp (Usa) is also cancelled from the roster. His manager told me about keep focused on preparation about Chicago Marathon."
Update on Tuesday. We received the following statement from Galen Rupp's agent Ricky Simms this morning.
"Galen has some soreness in his Achilles in Tilburg and decided it was better to return home to the US and continue training rather than stay in Europe (he had originally planned to stay in Europe between Tilburg and Copenhagen). Jordan was going to join him in Europe but will just run a hard effort in training at home instead."
Rupp will face his former training partner Mo Farah at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 7th.

Like i said before, those silly platform shoes will destroy his career.
-
Hopefully Leonard Korir can break the American record.
-
Oh that would have some people quite upset.
-
Well, no reason for me to follow the Copenhagen half this weekend then. No runner I follow is in it anymore.
-
That's too bad - you'll be missing out!

You have no clue what you're talking about. Thanks for the silly input. -

I'd like to see this as well. Maybe then we'll get to see Galen in a fast half marathon in the future. Interesting note is that Hasay was listed as out of the race for the same reason. I wonder if they both have some nagging injuries or if it was a team decision to scratch this race. It'd be frustrating if Hasay wanted to run. Has she run anything since Chicago last year? The race is just three weeks out so I was honestly a little surprised they were running since it's built as a WR attempt. -

There are two points I want to make.
1. Yeah. No reason other than a world record attempt.
2. Don't make me say it. Not Rupp Certified. -
They should run Philadelphia this weekend.

Well, there goes the WR attempt. -

Without looking anything up, the US 15k champs immediately come to mind. -
Kipchoge will get the WR at Berlin if a flash-in-pan doesn't show up this time, the pacer makes it to 19 miles, and he doesn't get PF problems (yet, anyway) from the dumb shoes.
Rupp is done.
Adidas forever. -
Nikke is sending that krappernick guy over to run for galen. He has a lot of time on his hands and has been training ferociously.
-
the phantom injury isnt there....he was supposed to run much faster in that 10miler than he did, and albert is pulling the plug. no way does he want rup to pull a 2:08-09 against mo at chicago.
prediction:
goes to chi town, goes with the leaders for 15K or so, and then drops out, and claims the whole achillies nagging injury flared up. this way he gets his appearance fee, and doest lose face for going home devastated. imagine the flack on here when its a 2:08 high, and imagine mo running 2:04-5 and being in the top 3 and ruppy poop settling for 5th or so. nike would be pissed, LR would be in a riot, and rupp would lose all his marathon earning power. -

What did this accomplish? It wasn't funny and isn't even close to being on topic. -
So much hate. Really I’m curious why everyone is so negative on here. One of the greatest American runners we have had for a long time and all I here is how happy you are that someone is injuried. I’m really disappointed.
I was really pumped up about Galen going for the AR. -

1) There's a WR attempt almost every time out. Just doesn't happen.
2) Does it matter if a WR happens? Most people know its not legit.
3) If we're going to keep celebrating dopers than just drop WADA as well as all the other doping agencies and encourage doping.
Some countries with creative labs (USA, Russia, UK, China) will develop runners that run a 11:00 flat 5000m. Would love to see how other countries would respond to that. -

Salazar is the worst coach any world elite could possibly have. To be the best, you have to race the best. Rupp will never reach the top if he never gets to try. -

He HAD the potential to be one of the greatest American runners of all time. Salazar and Nike DESTROYED RUPP.
