The only thing I could find on it. I am guessing it was a rust buster.

[i] Editor's note: Here is a post race interview with Rupp
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jor67ycBzk
For those of you too lazy to watch the interview. Rupp was upbeat after the race. He said the goal was simply to race as he likes to race 5-6 weeks out from a marathon. Near the end of the interview, he was asked which is better Olympic gold or the marathon WR and he said Olympic gold without a doubt.

All-time USA #3. Only 10 seconds off the NR. Nice work.
-
This was a marathon-pace effort. WR Shape for Chicago!
-
Long live Greg Meyer's 10 mile record!!!!
-
I would question any course distance from the 1980s.

46:23 =2:11 marathon. Definitely a rust buster. Anyone know how his training has been going? Don’t hear much due to Galen not being on social media. Most athletes post up twitter and Instagram anytime they do anything remotely impressive.

I’ve always found the Brooks race equivalency calculator to be most accurate for me personally and that gives 2:08:53 for a 46:23. Doesn’t really change the point of your post though.
I imagine things are going well in Galen land. -
Well that sounds better. Ha! Galen land!
-
He's putting in 140-150 miles a week at this point, so was "racing" on tired legs.

Kellogg chart is very accurate.

Thanks for sharing !

So if he was running 4:38 per mile we are looking at 2:05:30? If he was running marathon pace. If he running on tired legs he could go a bit faster? Goal could be 2:04 and some change.

The 1980s represented far more than any other decade, not even close.

I question any list that is factually incorrect.
Martyn Brewer was not nor has ever been an American citizen. I know him.
He’s a great guy, lots of fun, but he’s British. -
What was the weather like?
-
Brewer became a US citizen on Dec 31 1986.

Correct. Seems the skeptical guy posting above is not quite as good a friend as he thinks. -
