How are you going to prove your client not only isn't doping, but that a reasonable person should know that about someone who turned in an all-time top performance in a scandalously dirty sport? Let alone proving malicious intent if you're in the US.
Nobody can be proven clean. Professional running like all pro sports is entertainment, a business, and it's caveat emptor,. The people have the right to believe the athletes are clean or dirty if they want to, and say what they believe too. No athlete is entitled to any sort of reputation or fame.
With an intergender runner sandbagging to avoid breaking the w800 record, and the doors recently blown off the wsteeple, why be afraid of taking down the m5000 record too? The dope talk won't go away just because they let the record be.
They could do it easily, especially if they agree to share the lead. They might never get another chance.
