WHY ARE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT JAKE ROBERTSON WHEN HE'S NOT EVEN LISTED?????

I wonder why Galen is doing the 10 miler and the 1/2. Wouldnt one race be enough?
I really want Kipchoge to break the world record. How many more attempts does he have left? He completely deserves that record.
Salazar would NOT put Rupp in this field if he didn't think he was fit, especially so close to a marathon, this is going to be very exciting. I could see a sub-59 from the 26:44 man.

I'd say this is nowhere near the best half marathon field that could be assembled today, let alone all time.
The absence of Kamworor, Bedan Karoki, Farah or any notable marathon guys like Kipchoge or Kipsang kind of makes this field feel like it's filled with one hit wonders.
The WR might go, but the field could be a lot better. Out of all the names I'm most excited to see Wanjiru running
Maybe the "one hit wonder" argument is somewhat valid, but with this much talent and how much they probably spent on appearance fee, the hope is that someone pops off.
Rupp - DNF; pollen or some other 'excuse'

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. Sub 59 is surely possible, but I don't think he'll break 60 again.

Rupp is way faster?
Yes. Way WAY faster and it's not even close.
I dont think Kamworor will compete as late entry in Copenaghen.
You're right Alberto, i got in touch with the organisers and they confirmed Kamworor will not take part, and they will try get him in the race next year.
There has been a confusion. The Copenhagen Half Maratho takes place on September 16, the 10-miler Rupp is doing is on September 23 and the Chicago Marathon is on October 7. So obviously he will stay in Europe for a week and a half.
Also, there are more than one-hit wonders in the field.
Erick Kiptanui, the hottest property the half marathon has to offer after Geoffrey Kamworor. Remember the name, he will be the first man to break the 58 minutes barrier.
Cheroben is one of the greatest half marathoners of recent times. 58:40 PB, 3rd all time.
Yimer, 4th at the world half champs, a 59:00 performer, a man of the track also.
It would be great to see Bekele here as a preparation for Amsterdam. That would make an evan more epic field. It would also be fun to see him literally destroy everyone else
I agree Banana Bread. Is Bekele committed to a 1/2 yet?
Galen Rupp will compete on 10miles this weekend in Holland...not on 23th!!...i will be in Holland this weekend to follow the race!!
My mistake Alberto, with all these going on i had a fixation he was running Dam tot Damloop(also a 10 mile race in the Netherlands).
Enjoy and i'm looking forward to your invaluable insights from there.

800m+ GOAT Augustine Choge
Hasn't raced at all since Feb 2017. His Pb's except the 800 are similar to Mo Farah's
Mo Farah has proven a complete failure at moving up in distance. His form is too inefficient.
Having not raced for a while means Choge is fresh and ready to run a serious race rather than his 59.27 fun run.
The most that will happen in Copenhagen is to raise the bar a little bit for Choge to soar over later.

You are crazy if you think anybody in this field is destined for breaking 58 minutes. If Kipchoge had made it his goal to run a 58 minute half marathon the same way he ran a 2:00 marathon, maybe he could have gotten close. But you are absolutely daft if you think someone is going to come along and run 57:59 or faster any time soon.
So much talk about this runner, that runner breaking the current half marathon world record. It is STRONG. When it is broken, it will be by 10 seconds or less., with the most favorable of course and pacing conditions.

I mean he did pretty well in London.
I've ran in Copenhagen, the course is extremely flat and fast and there are a lot of high class runners on start list each year. Usually 6-10 guys go sub-60. This year however it's going to be much faster I assume.
Look at the Berlin half 2018 in full. Kiptanui's win is as impressive as the last 2 half marathons won by Kamwaror. I think he will break the WR is the weather is fine. I just hope the pacemaker will stay in the race a bit longer than in Berlin.
And I wonder how many will go out at 57:59 pace. Can't wait!
It is a pity it happens during the Berlin marathon.
Rupp winning is about the same chance as me making it to Tokyo

Exactly my point. Weather should be just as good in Copenhagen. Daniel Kipchumba will be again his pacemaker, he is also his daily training partner, and a 59:06 half marathoner. I didn't say Kiptanui will break 58 in Copenhagen, i said he is ridiculously talented and one day he will do it if he stays injury-free. For now, just the world record would please him.
In Berlin they went out at 57 flat pace for the first 5k, if they don't do it again, Daniel should be able to pace it until 13-15km.
Actually the race starts at 11:15 am local time, which is same time zone as Berlin. Berlin Marathon starts at 9:15. So we can watch Berlin and then tune in Copenhagen.
