They are motorized vehicles with no insurance, and you can sneak them onto regular trails. Is it acceptable to ride a motorbike on a running path? No, but e-bikes and e-scooters are okay because they are electric?

E-bikes= easy way to set new records on strava segments.
I have seen them on our local bike path. I have no problem with them. They seem to be slower than a regular bicycle so these things probably are less dangerous to runners and walkers on the path.
if any kind of bikes are allowed, it's not a pedestrian path.
And e-bikes are a ridiculous idea, just like all other e-vehicles. People think the extra electricity to run them comes from solar panels or something. Nope. But e-bikes are more egregious than e-cars or motorcycles because with a bike you really have no excuse, just pedal the damn thing you lazy mofo.

No, those e-bikes can actually go pretty fast and on inclines they do very well compared to what most people can pedal.
Maybe e-bikes are ok to get couch potatoes started but once you can actually pedal some get a REAL bike where you do all the work.

I'm a runner and fairly fit, and I love e-bikes! I don't own one myself, but my mom does and it's just a great equalizer. We can go on family bike tours where I can bike hard and my Mom can bike with a bit of assistance, making it an enjoyable experience for everyone.
I have also rented e-bikes on holiday in various Asian and European cities to get around. You are still active (the motor only works when you pedal and you can typically regualte the amount of assistance) and can see much more than on a regular bike.
Third, I will probably get a high quality e-bike to commute to work if I change jobs to something more than 5-8 miles from home.
I hate to ask, but are friends electric?
If you really want to go down that route, you need to compare the source of energy of food when pedding vs the source of energy from the electricity.
