It sounds like you might have strained a ligament where the talus connects to the navicular bone.
I have a recurring problem with this. PT had me doing a bunch of foot balancing drills, but it still flares up. I usually tape the arch and ankle before trail runs and track workouts. Changing the inserts in my shoes sometimes helps.
The good news is that it's not a career ender. The bad news is that I've had it for five years. I can still run competitively if I tape it correctly.
