I'll tell you my broken nose story in Houston. It will entertainingly scratch that itch while also being the least surprising story in history of mankind.

Congrats on the job OR!
Allow me to pile on with the congrats. You're gonna become the thread shoe guru now!
AJ and Coach - Thanks, guys! Shoe guru sounds great. :-)

Kicking a ball in flips? Yes that was dumb.. just not epically awesome dumb!
Thing is—all you kids out there take note—drunken mayhem just never results in bad consequences.

I will plead the 5th. It’s possible a time or two I have a poor decision whilst drunk.
These days it just is more like getting drunk and waking up in a small town to run a half marathon up a mountain.
There is a Providence that protects idiots, drunkards, children, and the United States of America—so if you’re a dumb drunk American kid, you’ve got nothing to worry about. (It’s the only explanation for how I survived my early 20s.)

I've always respected you, but I've never respected you more. Well said.

Agreed.
Hey Allen...What’s happening on the veranada tonight?
I had a good day...ran an 11.25/6.25 double.
I did 4 pain free. And the last half mile I kicked it in and was rolling sub 4:45 pace at end Felt nice. Maybe I can run a decent 5k in a couple weeks.
Sunday morning here. Good coffee. Watching baseball.
Felt just the slightest muscle fatigue last night on that easy run. This is good news. Worked hard last Sunday in the hills, ran fast enough to test myself in the 5k, adding in the 10-sec hill sprints (which just feel delicious)... It's been a while since I've felt workload fatigue.

No time for relaxation this evening. Had to work today, then mow the lawn -- a 3-hour endeavor when I string-trim, too. Then a 7-mile jog. Then dinner ... cleaning up now. Today's TDF individual time trial on the kitchen television -- DVR'd earlier.
Congrats on the job. Sounds fun. And great mileage for you today. Think you'll be doing those doubles regularly?
Allen - Thanks. I saw the end of the TdF time trial. It was an exciting stage. I felt I still had something left after the 11.25 this morning, and so when I still felt okay later in the day, I decided to go out again, and get to 70. Glad I did. That was a nice little 6.25...7:24, 6:45, 6:42, 6:30, 6:17, 6:04, 1:26. Felt great...much better than in the a.m. I do the doubles on a case-by-case basis. They are great for adding some volume.
Thanks, Smoove and OR. That poli sci degree is finally paying off!
Playing around with a VDOT calculator/equivalator spreadsheet.
My 5k in the heat and humidity (Real Feel 100 degrees) predicts my exact marathon time from last December at 54 degrees.
Using the heat adjuster on that spreadsheet, I get an equivalent performance of 19:30 at 60 degrees. Which is a VDOT of 51.3. Which is a 3:07 marathon. Which all means that I've had too much coffee this morning.
I find that to much coffee of a morning leads to tooooo much beer of an evening.
I'll do my best to confirm your observation... results should be in just about your morning coffee time.
Well Coach. It's morning coffee time here. Slept in til 7 for the second day in a row. looking like a nice slow rainy morning for a nice jog in a bit.
