Thinking of devoting 12 weeks to try and run a fast road mile. Will it help me long term in HM or M or am i wasting my time to run like a 5 min road mile?
I was a 800/1500 type person in school, but haven't raced anything under 5k since.
I still would consider shorter races a strength because I am much better in 5k and get progressively slower as I go up in distance. Haven't done a specific block for a miler, and I am curious to what I can run.
I noticed when running with the local XC kids that I am not as quick in 100,200,400 type stuff as I used to be. Only 25 years old, but took a several years off before doing longer races. Embarrassingly gained like 40 lbs too but have dropped 25-30 since I started running again a couple years ago.
