Imagine if Movistar or Astana, or a team like UAE had to go through a governmental investigation? It would be carnage.
Not if they just "lost" all the medical files for their riders ....

But they also knew he was an American and were happy to support him. Doubtless his willingness to become fluent in French helped, but it wasn't as if they didn't know he was an outsider.

This is a common and oft-repeated misconception. Despite how the LeMond name sounds, it is Gaelic in origin and Greg's ancestry is Scottish. He has said this himself in interviews.

However, the spanish, italians, and the french can dope all day long ....Did they boo Alberto Contador after he tested positive?
The French were quite supportive of Greg Lemond, so I think you are making a simplistic remark about their attitudes.
See my post on the Paul Edwards thread about false science and WADA,you have far too simple a brain for this.

Froome was "cleared" by WADA, yes, but this just made the situation worse.
Froome had four x the amount of asthma medicine allowed in his system.
Froome should have been suspended while this played out, but didn't have to.
During this period and before this, three other UCI pro riders WERE sanctioned for the same ×PEDS use and they had one year suspensions.
The TDF was not going to let Froome compete this year until 3 days prior to race start WADA determined Froome's excuses were good enough to clear him.
This reeks, family or not of Froome.
Bad precedent.
Bad PED deterrent.
Cycling truly is, has, and will be tainted.
What, where did you get that figure from. It was 13% higher than the threshold I think you will find.
They have all those climbing stages where the fans throng the road like a gauntlet and get right up in the riders' faces yelling at them. If they don't like dopers they should give them hell in those stages.

Guy doesn't have even have asthma - an asthmatic can't engage in radio conversation with their team director whilst going faster than Lance Armstrong up the mountains of the Grand Massif.
Froome struggled to get over bridge inclines before 2011. Froome never mentioned having asthma even once in his autobiography yet harped on about all his other "ailments".
Ergo he never had asthma despite his assertion that "everyone knew about it". The Directors of Froome's previous teams went on record stating he never had asthma.

Over the threshold is still a positive test and a ban should therefore still be applied.

The allowable upper limit is 1000ng/ml. You will find it was double the allowable amount, he tested at 2000 ng/ml. However, due to a new rule to account for dehydration (although there was no evidence he was dehydrated), they recalibrated the results to 1429ng/ml.

Aw, c'mon, half of France thought Lemond was one of theirs because of his name. ; )

Well...no wonder, there's a lot of asthma going on with Team Sky & British athletes in general. ??
