Yeet.
I'm excited about this. Tadese is one of my favorite runners. Probably my second favorite. Tadese ran the world record with 58:23. It would be interesting to see if that can be beaten. I wish Bekele would of tried this to. He doesn't have an interest in the half mary. He will get the marathon wr. It will be interesting to see a new half mary and full mary wr at the same time. Bekele in Berlin and Copenhagen the half.
In Valencia after the HM World Champs, this subject was brought up and Kamworor said they will plan an attempt, probably prior to his NYC defence. Asked if Copenhagen was a possibility, they said it definitely might be.
I really expect Kamworor to be confirmed for Copenhagen soon.

Will he literally get the WR?
Who's his coach and what brand of sriracha sauce does he use?
An italian?
Erick Kiptanui (58'42"), Daniel Kipchumba (59'06"), Josphat Boit (59'19") and the winner of African Championships in 5000m, younger brother of Ronald Kwemoi (Samuel Chepolei) are all part of the new group of Renato Canova and his assistant coach John Litei in Iten. All athletes with very short career till now, nobody was in real training before 2017. Erick was a 1500m runner till last September, with the task to help Ronald Kwemoi in his training, but when Ronald had to stop for the stress fracture he had in Monaco last year, Erick moved to longer distances. Typical example of what athletes of good talent (but not exceptional) can do, when train hard and have continuity and motivation.

Thanks for this. Do you know how Kwemoi is coming along?

Thanks for the info. Insane though - 3 guys trained for 1 year seriously and already less than a minute away from the WR.

Yes, sure. I do wonder however what an exceptional talent -according to you- would run for the half...

not exceptional talent to challenge a wr, bullf'ing'shid. They need to step up drug testing on this group. Remember how Renato swore up and down epo doesn't work and then we found the top 1500 meter runner in the world only got there through doping.

Mzungu in Iten ........are you Renato Canova?
Anyway how you can tell of somebody run 58'42" Half , doesnt have exceptional talent ?
Only three people in history have run faster than him. So if you think he doesnt have exceptional talent.......
Honestly, it smells really bad. How on earth a relative unknown can come out of nowhere and run a 58:42 half at 28 years of age?
Red flags all over it..

Definitely not, he trains with Kipchoge and Kamworor, as can be seen in various pictures they post on social media. They are the ones who lead every hard workout. It was a matter of time until Kiptanui would prove himself!

track and field is a red flag.
Rupp should get in this race, Smash the American Record in the Half Marathon a few Weeks before the Chicago Marathon.

It won't happen, they are too close together, only 3 weeks. Between Roma-Ostia and Boston were 5 weeks.
I'm curious what Eric Kiptanui is going to do, rumours have it that if he breaks the world record in Copenhagen, he might debut in the marathon 5 or 6 weeks later in either Amsterdam or Frankfurt, both very very fast courses with better weather than Berlin usually. If he doesn't, he still can try again for the half WR either 4 or 6 weeks later in Lisbon or Valencia, again two very fast courses although weather is often an issue.
I wouldn't bet against Kiptanui ending the year with a WR under his name... How insane would it be to get them both by the end of the year? Unless Kipchoge doesn't bury it in Berlin.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
