Shame, there's a lot of good movies that came out in the 90's, and 2000's.. specifically up to around 2008 then since then there was a downfall of good movies comin out.. maybe 1 "decent" one per year if we're lucky.

hard day hard, easy day easy
Movies of quality are hard to come by in this millennia. They are mainly rehashing old themes with a quickened, dumbed-down plot, replacing all artistic stylization with homogeneous, flashy computer animation. Any aspect of film that ever actually stimulated the forebrain is gone. It is just mind-numbing trash for those with no life.
What about porn? They probably are pretty loyal watchers of the porn. I kind of doubt you want to watch with them though. Odds are pretty high that they are not wearing clothes whilst they are viewing the mighty porn.
Movies are dead. It's all about series: Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Arrested Development, Better Call Saul, The Shield, The Wire, Justified, Homeland, etc.
Is that strange? It seems very strange to me.[/quote]
Between your mom, your dad, and you, one of you is indeed strange.
What's weird is youngsters with their face in a phone all the time!
None of my parents do either, and I find it normal.
(They died in 1977 and 1993)
I've watched a lot of movies, and I think that I'm pretty knowledgeable about them, but I've seen very few movies that have been made in the last decade or so, and almost none that currently rank among the top-grossing films of all time. Look at this list:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/?pagenum=1&p=.htm
Fantasy, superheroes, animation, action-adventure with lots of special effects . . . and not much else. I think I've seen one of the top 100 box office films of all time (the original "Star Wars," from 1977), and it's hard to find others on that list that I'd be genuinely interested in seeing.
There are many movies that I still want to watch for the first time, and many more that I would enjoy watching at least a few more times, but I look for movies that are going to stick with me for years. I'm much more likely to find those kinds of movies on something like Turner Classic Movies or a streaming service like Filmstruck or Fandor, which offer films that have withstood the test of time.
Wow that is awful
Avatar was fun to see even if it wasn't really good. Titanic, I hate to admit but, I liked. The Dark Knight and The Lion King are the only actually good movies on there. It's no wonder nothing good ever comes out anymore, there is more money in garbage.
Movies, music, culture, society are all heading down the pooper. At least there are the classics to watch over and over.
Few movies are worth watching more than one time. Plus there are only a few stories, repeated over and over. After awhile there's nothing to watch unless it's with your kids.
Actors are posers, literally. Don't want spend energy buying into all that.
Movies are blatantly manipulative. Who needs that.
Movies distort reality to make the story more interesting. Why make a biographical or historical movie if it's going to change the parts that aren't interesting or because of the demands of compelling storytelling or because there's not enough time?
The people behind movies work very hard to get people to buy and watch them which shows how nonessential they really are.

No, there aren't that many movies worth watching anyway
or maybe you just haven't spent the time to find the ones worth watching? or maybe just a general lack of imagination...

the goal of a movie isn't to present reality. Story telling is an art.
it's kind of like saying "whats the point of eating beef. Cooks only use certain desirable parts of the cow, and then alter it with spices and cooking methods."
My parents are same age. They watch MLB games and that's only 1-3 per week. No tv other than that. My dad builds, my mom reads.
Me? I watch an occasional movie (haven't been to a theater in years) but would much rather drink 2 beers at the workbench, listening to a podcast while tinkering with something that's broken and repairing it.

People are strange when you're a stranger.

I think you need to look up the word millennia.
