Utah girl wore a "Chinese dress" to her prom and is branded a racist? Does this make sense?

You could’ve stopped at “Utah girl” and my knee jerk would’ve been RACIST!!!!

I am American born Chinese.. I don’t see any problem with what she did. She looks good in that qipao and I can’t see why others (even

Chinese people) would have a problem with that.

I had never heard of cultural appropriation before last year. Are we sure the word just didn't get turned around. If she likes the style of the dress then isn't the correct term Cultural Appreciation.

I like tacos, sushi, pasta, pho, potatoes, etc. because I appreciate foods from those cultures.

Appropriation means to take and use as my own without the owners permission. No person can own a culture. And if I cook foods or where clothes from other cultures it's pretty obvious that I didn't invent them so where's the appropriation?

The whole thing sounds as if a Berkeley sociologist prof was bored on April fools day and created this BS and then the SJW's picked up on it as something else that they can b1tch and moan about.

I would have thought this below is far more important an issue as far as the future of the USA is concerned.

1} First of all, we are still a free country.

2} I would say that only liberals are offended by her choice of dress.

3} I'm Irish and while I might think her choice of an Irish traditional dress a little strange,

I would actually take her choice as approval of our culture.

4} If, and only if, her dress insults Chinese religious sentiments would she be wrong and

of course I assume the dress doesn't address any religious theme.
