Rupp's fragile state of mind would have been shattered had he had Mo's bottle problems - DNF.

Mo gave an interview to BBC, Gabby Logan just now.
The first person he mentioned beating is Bekele. How he is happy that he has beaten class athlets like Bekele etc..
MO knows Bekele has always been a runner he has feared and respected

This. Rupp would have been a DNF if not a DNS once the weather and pacing were de-certified.

What is the basis for thinking he's better than Mo?
He's not.
In any case, it's a moot point, because Galen is too scared to ever go out at WR pace.
Rupp was around a minute behind Kipchoge in the brutal Rio conditions and he's even better now. You seriously think Mo is a better marathoner??

Hilarious. Millennials...

Top notch performances by Kipchoge, Katata and Farah. To those saying the opening pace was too hard: first miles are down hill. Since they knew it would get hotter the only way to have a shot at the WR was by going through the half in 6100 and hoping to hold a 62 second half. It ended up being a 63 second half for Kipchoge. So I think from Kipchoge's perspective this wasn't stupid. He is experienced enough to know when to back off, he never blows up.
This is the most idiotic analysis I have ever read.
Heat makes you bonk harder, therefore you should run faster in the opening half?
LOLOL you have never run marathons seriously.

Everybody is surprised that the pace was TOO FAST.
Well guess what.
This is a NEW BALANCE sponsored race.
Most of those in contention were NIKE runners.
Organizers obviously set up the pace deliberately to DESTROY the Nike runners, creating TV images of them bonking and stumbling in, and avoiding a Nike world record!
Actually makes sense.
Here are the 5k splits for the men in the race:
13:48
14:31
14:46
14:47
14:44
14:48
15:09
15:02
WR pace is 14:34. So they banked time the 1st 10k and then slowly gave it all back.

I told all of you this the moment it happened.
The idiot commentators kept criticizing him but indeed having hydration is a good idea in a hot marathon.

So, MO shatters Galens time. Galen is now crying into his inhaler.

On the surface it sounds reasonable.
But actually the volunteers do NOT hand drinks bottles to the competitors. Bottles are placed on the table for them to collect.
I'm pretty certain it's done like that so there can be no accusations of a volunteer ruining a race for the runner when the hand off goes awry.
I think having the drinks on a stand behind a barrier was a bit of a problem, just mentally there’s a barrier right there so it’s a little awkward to grab it so close

It's a moot point because he didn't run.
Galen haters hate that he is an Olympic medalist in the marathon and refuse to give him credit.

Bekele is not as committed to running as much as Mo.
Has not been for a long time. He's way too busy with all the businesses he run in Ethiopia.
A fully committed Bekele would always beat Mo.
Bekele is incomparable with Mo with regards natural talent.
A clean Mo is not better than the average runner. When Mo used to run clean up until he was 27, Bekele was a lap in front of him on the track
Idiot.

So why have people there at all ?
Eliud still The King, Kennster finished and Mo proves he is world class marathoner. Letsrun haters go home devastated.
the suicidal first 5 k probably cost Kipchoge 30 sec in the end. Add the temperature (60-90 sec) and we are talking about
2:02:30. He can do it in Berlin.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
