Most residency programs did away with this a long time ago anyway. Only Med students wear short coats these days. The other poster is right, everyone (even ancillary staff) wear long coats. This is really not a big deal and nobody in the hospital really cares. The problem is mainly if you are a patient , you may have no idea who your doctor actually is.
Well soon med students will be complaining...
Med students do complain about the short white coat. Not because they'd rather have a long one, but because most would rather just not wear a coat at all.
And really I'm surprised that patients aren't against the coats as well. The thing is just a big formite.
