well I could barely eat one when they were the only game in town. there are so many options out there now that actually look and taste like real food. they just were the slow kid who was giving a 50 meter head start and once everyone caught up it was game over.

if you are talking about the original classic powerbar, I miss them too because they had the right combo of glucose/fructose - I used to pocket one for long runs and break off tiny pieces as a "poor man's gel"

they are still around though, they've completely changed their marketing and wrappers, the original is changed a bit and advertised as "plant protein" which is a marketing nasty-clever way of says "soy"

then they created "clean whey" bars

my supermarkets carry the whole line, just not the original classic

What happened? Many more companies started coming out with bars that are much better tasting, better texture, better ingredients, and more nutritious. Thank God - because Powerbars were terrible.

I love Picky Bars, rBars, Square Organics, Health Warrior, and Redd bars.

I thought Power Bars were generally quite terrible and my teeth didn't like them much. The Chocolate was particularly awful.

Don't you just hate it when they discontinue this that work for you? Trainers, spikes, flats, foods, clothes, and drinks. The bane of my running life.

Powerbar protein bars are $16 for 15 count on amazon prime. People still buy food at the store???

Looks like you guys are shopping in the wrong places. I ate one this morning and buy a box of them every couple of weeks. They haven’t disappeared.

They still have vanilla, chocolate, and one other flavor. They changed the recipe at some point, they used to taste better.

Really miss the lemon poppy seed clifbars though.

That may be but, interestingly enough, I purchased a box of PowerBar vanilla gels on the powerbar.com web page and about a week ago received notice that the item was discontinued and therefore will not be shipped.

It seems that PowerBar gels have gone kaput.

I searched powerbar.com for regular PowerBars and the site says that Peanut Butter and Vanilla bars are out of stock.

The only PowerBar a person can purchase on powerbar.com is Chocolate.

It would seem that if PowerBars are no longer stocked on their own web page then the PowerBar product has perished.

I agree that the flavor has changed over the years. I noticed about 5 years ago the taste of the Peanut Butter PowerBar changed noticeably.

Haven't disappeared, but not readily available like they used to be and discontinued flavors and products. Now their vanilla Powergels are discontinued? Sucks, they fueled all my best marathons.

There is always Gu.

Gu isn't that bad. In fact, it is quite good.

The consistency of Gu makes it hard to squeeze out of the package. They also have less calories. Clif shots are the next closest thing. Powergels though had the glucose-fructose blend and more carbohydrates.

PowerBar gels seemed to be much more like a syrupy liquid.

Gu is almost a solid.

They don’t sell the caffeine gels anymore, double latte and tangerine. Really sucks.

They don't sell the non-caffeinated gels anymore either.

PowerBar gels are kaput.

Powerbar's last ditch strategy didn't work out. Back in 2012, they told Glen Randall "put on this diarrhea brown Powerbar speedsuit and win the Boston Marathon to show the world the power of Powerbar. Just go for it". Things went outstandingly for about 6 miles, but then Glen and the fate of Powerbar started experiencing difficulties...

Like so many initially successful companies, they didn't adapt when competitor came to market. I'm sure they can still make a decent profit as there is a a reason there are grocery stores with entire aisles dedicated to bars.
