[i] Editor's note: This thread was started on Wednesday by an unregistered poster using the handle "Bad News Brewing" with a title of "So sorry for Hasay" and it implied that Jordan Hasay had pulled out of the 2018 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. Since the original poster was replying to their own thread under different names, we incorrectly assumed they were trolling. We wrote USATF today and they confirmed that Jordan Hasay has withrdawn from the World Half Champs. Their statement to us says, "She has withdrawn, per her agent Ricky Simms. " We have written back and asked them if they have any more info - injury, ilness, etc.
Update #1 - David Monti reported on twitter she pulled out with a plantar issue.
Update #2 - Hasay's agent Ricky Simms has gotten back to us. We asked him about her status for Boston and he wrote, "Jordan pulled out of the World Half earlier this week with a tight plantar. It is more precautionary with Boston so close. We expect her to be fine for Boston. "

We apologize for not trusting the wisdom of our own messageboard where rumor after rumor over the last 18 years has come true time after time. The OP's initial post appears below our article link[/u]

Sorry for the bad news. You'll be back.
Confirmed: Jordan Hasay has withdrawn from the 2018 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships - Will she run Boston?

Probably hurt. I knew she wouldn't be around by 2020.

I have done research as well, and turned up nothing. Until further notice, I will assume this thread is a troll. -

probably the same guy who said Murphy was leaving "NOP tomorrow" -
First she will scratch World Half then Boston. Just watch.
LRC note: This post is coming frome the same IP as the first one. -
Failed a drug test?

We have written both USATF and Ricky Simms (Hasay's agent) to see if they will provide more info on Hasay's withdrawal.
USATF did write back but didn't provide any info on Hasay. They did say however that the US like Kenya will only race 3 women - "We are running with 3. Natosha and Jordan withdrew after the entry deadline unfortunately. "
This is a reminder of why nearly every time the entries for a Worlds on the track comes out and people start speculating why the 4th or 5th placer at USAs also is on the entry list , the answer is simple - you must enter extra people in case you want to run a full squad if someone withdraws. Neither the US or Kenya did that in this case and as a result they will be running short-handed. -
We just got a text stating that David Monti put out a tweet even before our article was published. It has some great info on Hasay.

Hasay looks so incredibly unhealthy. Way too skinny for what she grew up as. I'm not sure if other posters agree or have already pointed this out, but the red flag is flying high. Please help her!!

All top women marathoners look unhealthy. Shalane looked like a strips of jerky stretched over driftwood framing at NYCM. Deena same in her "prime".
Top-level marathons are one of the most inherently unhealthy things you can do to your body. That is part of the masochistic challenge. -

So if a guy posts under "Bad News Brewing" and then posts later as Bad News Brewing" , why would it be notable that it came from the same IP? -

Tirunesh Dibaba looks slightly chubby. It must be more of a white girl thing to look like a jerky driftwood sculpture. -
The info coming out is that it is due to a plantar issue. I recall that Rupp had plantar issues at some point last year, or the year prior. I wonder if those new Nike shoes with the carbon fiber plate in them are proving too stiff for some, and putting extra pressure on the plantar fascia when trying to roll through the foot strike.

She lost her Vaporflys :(
-
Didn't she also withdraw last year, only to run very well in Boston?
-
Not enough cushioning causing spinal cord and vertabrae trauma innervating nervous system resulting in tightening of the plantar muscle. Should switch to Hoka with more cushioning.
