5:30 indeed. It won't matter, temps around 58-62. It's really flat and straight. Most km's are sheltered by buildings and trees. Only 2 km are exposed. Also, they might get a tailwind on some straights, it will be demonic fast i guarantee, first few km at WR pace.

Why isn't someone like Abadia running this for Spain? Would have been awesome for the home crowd to watch one of their own vie for the win.

Nobody breaks 60 on Saturday. It will be a tactical race with a big kick. Kamworor or Yimer to win it, Lagat for top 20.

I'm going out there and running it, must admit everyone I know was hoping for better weather.

It's a 28mph NW wind. So the section 8-12k will be directly into the headwind, and since it's next to the park, won't be as sheltered as you'd like. However 15k-finish will be with that same wind (gusting up to 40mph!!!) right behind you.

Seems like, for us mortals, the idea will be to find a pack through the first two thirds of the race and hide in it. Then hopefully let rip for line.

Also fun, with such a massive elite field a bunch of my mates have got a bet going to see how many elites we can finish in front of.

I mean, Gibralter, Andorran, Kazakh etc. elites but still!!

I hope for my countryman Wanders to medal. I think top five is very realistic and even the podium is possible.

Funny, I was watching the half worlds two years ago and thought about who the hell should ever beat those east africans. They run so impressive. No we have a guy of our own mixing it up with the best.

Rupp would easily trounce any of the east Africans in a half. One of those Robertson brothers just annihilated some of the best in Houston just a couple months ago. Wanders wouldn't exactly be the first.

Rupp would have 0 chanches against Kam and Cheroben. Moen or Robertson even less so. Top 5 at best for Rupp.

Lagat already run the world fastest time for a 43yo in Houston (1:02:00), overall record for M40-44 it's hard.

Are there any streaming/TV viewing options for people outside the US? I've been trawling the various websites and there doesn't seem to be anything....
