Kipchoge goes home DEVESTATED

This would be a fascinating race assuming both were properly motivated.
Let's say, $1,000,000 USD tax-free goes to the winner. Loser gets nothing.
If they were both in their prime, I give the edge to Kipchoge. He is the superior runner overall and has proven he has plenty of speed. I don't believe Rupp could beat him in the marathon except by fluke. Prime Kipchoge beats Prime Rupp under perfect conditions, running 3:48 to Rupp's 3:49.5.
Except, as others have pointed out, Eliud is no longer at his peak in terms of speed. He's an absolute machine at the marathon, but how much has the longer stuff hurt his top end?
Rupp isn't at his peak either, but probably has his higher top-end at this stage in his career. They're both right in the middle of heavy marathon training. Today, I give the slight edge to Rupp, winning in 3:53.2 to Kipchoge's 3:53.4.

You Rupp people are out of your mind or haven't paid attention to his career. He'd drop out due to a sore foot or asthma or some bull and run an impressive workout afterwards. Big Al wouldn't let him complete a fast mile a month out of Boston. He'd look worse than Farah in a 100m in the rain (who at least finished).
You sir sound like the one out of your mind considering the question has nothing to do with whether Rupp would be allowed to compete this race or not. It's simply a hypothetical question with some valid points raised, and it's kinda pointless to get into a tizzy about it.

This myth of Rupp being fast- where does come from??
From his PRs.

Which are slower than Kipchoge at both the mile and the 1500, aren't they?

Rupp is faster than Kipchoge over short distances
Hahaha. Haha. Ha. Very Funny.
This is when I wish Track bot was still working:
RUPP Kipchoge
1500: 3:34.15 3:33.20
Mile: 3:52.11 3:50.40
3000: 7:43.24 7:27.66
5000: 12:58.9 12:46.53
I don't know where you got this misconception.
Are those leaches on him?
Rupp at the end of Rio- a mess.
Kipchoge- Fresh as Fresh can be.
Kipchoge to Rupp in this picture:” Did you catch your breath yet? Ready for another one? “
Rupp: “I wanna go home”

At least list Rupp's best times...
Mile: 3:50.92
3000: 7:30.16
2 mile: 8:07.41
Sure, a prime track kipchoge is a little faster than a prime Rupp Kipchoge, but I'd say RUpp is a lot closer to his track prime than Kipchoge is. Which is why I, and many others, chose Rupp, if they were to go head to head this week.

Prime track Rupp*
A leech is a creature that sucks blood. The verb “to leech” is based on that. The verb “to leach” means to pull something out of something else, as in “the sun had leached the color from the old T-shirt.” Tricky distinction, but worth keeping straight.
Also: Rupp might not be up to par in a mile race TODAY because of his very recent half-marathon.

This.
But, I’m still surprised most are picking
Rupp, given the general dislike of Rupp on these boards. Just curious, what time do you think these 2 could run at for a mile TODAY, if in a paced mile race? (Assuming their legs aren’t too drained from marathon training)?
+1 Rupp
and Galen always has the best running form and makes everything look so easy
an healthy Rupp would win by much
I have no doubt that Kipchoge would win at any distance at any time, just as Farah would.

If Rupp is juiced, imagine what kind of juice Kipchoge is on.

Remember this?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=Kzee0gPqcwEFarah is a 3:28 1500m runner.
Kipchoge form is arguably better. It appears to me to be more efficient and smooth. Rupp is too much on his toes. If you forefoot strike, Kipchoge is how you would want to do it.

Plus since we're talking about TODAY, Kipchoge is preparing for London which is likely to be a 2:03 race so he's focusing more on long steady states, tempos, and fast long runs. Rupp is preparing for a 2:06-2:10 sit and kick race in Boston so he's likely doing slightly more speed than speed in training than Kipchoge anyway.
What's Rupp fastest last 400m in the marathon and what's Kipchoge fastest last 400m in the marathon? Has Rupp even ran a mile split below 4:30 during a marathon?
