Wow guys, your XC teams don't have money and there is little interest in the sport in your community? Welcome to LetsRun and to distance running in general. Guess what, when those LV guys go to college, they will likely go to a school that doesn't have much money for their XC team and there is little interest in how they're doing. Same goes for you, if you get to run in college.
Kenyan teenagers don't need tents to stay out of the sun at meets. They just run fast. I'm sorry that you live in a poorer area and that you don't have a tent, it sucks, but living in NOVA isn't going to solve the problems. Stay hydrated, train hard, get your long runs in on the weekend and run as best you can. In the school district that I used to teach in, all students-athletes had to pay a sports fee of $100 to participate in a sport. 3-season distance runners were out $300 a year, until they cut the winter track program anyway.
