Lol you're the dumbest cont in the show. Hobby joggers have money. They're the ones buying $250+ shoes. LR posters are the whiny babies calling for it to be banned.

Have you seen those threads on other sports websites where folks who played high school and college golf, baseball, basketball or swam make fun of adults who enjoy playing the sports in their leisure time? You haven't because they don't exist.
Get it, neurotic never- beens?
The competitive and recreational sides of running are interwoven like no other sport and adult participation is much higher than most. There is no equivalent to draw your comparison to.
Uhm, ever heard of golf?

I have, I'm only about a 6, but probably makes me a better golfer than a runner. A couple months ago I ran a race that Saline MF Flanagan won, but I've never played in a tournament that Eldick Woods has won. I played in a pro-am once on the Sr Tour...not quite the same thing as a 'thon

'thon? Uh oh, that's one of the things "those people" say...
Referring to 5k's and 10k's as Marathons.
Talking about breaking 4:00 in the Mile like everyone did that in there PE Class.
Arguing with me in my hay day when I ran a 29:05 10k and a 4:04 Mile about how some dude in there military unit could crush me in a race.
Talking about back in the day's when they were in shape and ran a 4:10 Mile like every who attempts track in high school will magically run a 4:10 mile.
Me: I just learned to ignore it and if they ask what my best times are I will say google it with IAAF after my name then you can see all of my PR's.

You missed the entire joke of that post, fu@ktard. Go take a lap.
Them: “this is the first year my wife & i are doing the race together, and as such we're kind of at a loss as to where to stow the "things" we'll have with us coming into downtown: jacket, keys, phones, that sort of stuff (last year, i just handed her my bag o' things and she met me at the stadium). as there isn't officially anywhere to leave things to get after one has completed their run... is there somewhere *unofficial* we can put things? or are we just sorta' SOL?”
Me: They have encouraged us to wear old clothing and strip off the outerwear at the starting line; they are collecting the clothing at the starting line and taking to the homeless shelter.
Them: "ugh. that is so annoying."
What are all of your PRs? I want to see.

Billiards, my friend. You can play with the greatest at some fairly random places and sometimes walk away not even knowing who you played - kind of like when you can't keep up with the guy lapping you at the park and you walk away wondering if his name was really Meb.
"Let's Run posters are a-holes"
I don't see why it's so bad to talk about HJ's here. There's a clear difference in the way the sport is viewed by those who've competed, coached, or spent lots of time around those who did either of the former at a high level, and those who have not.
I have a good friend who probably can't run a sub 7 mile all out, and was never very fast. But he grew up around real runners. Good ones, like sub 4 milers, sub 13:30 5k, and 2:10 marathoners. He's studied the sport, coached, and been around it all his life. I would argue that he is NOT a hobby jogger because he understands what it means to be a competitive runner. We're referring to one's perception of the sport of running rather than personal ability when speaking of HJ's.
And why is that bad? I'm glad they spend the money to keep running stores in business for me. But it is funny when you meet a HJ and have a similar interaction:
Them after finding out I run 85-95mpw: "what's your marathon?"
Me: "I've never run one. I run 5k's on the track and 10k's in XC. I'm sure I'll run one in the coming years."
Them, snarkily : "Oh well I'm about to finish my 6th marathon. Last year I ran a BQ."
I am 35 years old now and no longer run competitively so I heavily utilize the Al Bundy approach of his past life: scoring four touchdowns in a single game the only difference is my stories revolve around running which is far worse because people just visualize the painful activity of running yet wearing short shorts at the same time.

Oi, never quite got the 'thon figured out, didya? I'm finishing my 6th as we speak, just after I stop for some coffee. Nabbed a BQ last week, nbd.
I was in FL to visit a friend a month after I ran a 13:50 5k. I met his 55 yr old mom, who said "Oh you ran for your college? We should go running together while you're out here."
He (not a runner but is around me enough to get it) and I exchange a glance that says "how do I counter that one and not sound like an a$$hole?"
After a short pause she says "Although, my knee has been bugging me so I probably shouldn't"
Relieved, I respond "Ah too bad!"
I have posted on this one a couple of times because I actually find it pretty hilarious. The best one any competitive runner has ever heard at a local 5k is the starting official asking are there any questions? Hear is the best hobby jogger thing ever said…. Guy wearing The Sun Glasses, Compression Socks, and Carrying a Water Bottle you have all seen this guy slightly overweight and clueless asks “Do you know if we go left or right?” My response is follow the guys in front of you because wearing that crap we sure as He!l know it won’t be you!!!!

Not so fast. We can't tell if that was the best outcome w/o pics of the mom.
Oh, wait a minute. "Friend". Never mind.
Could still use pics of the mom though.

Please tell me people aren’t actually like that in real life!?
